By the way, I would really like to know what was seen on the big screens while they were playing their new song ''Step into the Light''... If someone who was there remembers that, please tell me

From the video footage, I'm pretty sure they had the screens off during this performance. Love that...minimalism to concentrate on the song.

Yes, I watched the video footage couple of times and I think I noticed something... In the video lights seem to be really bright and playing around so I couldn't tell. But you're probably right that the screens were completely off. And that's a good point - to concentrate on the song! I didn't think of this. I wonder how everyone else felt about such performance views as lighting and images. I don't think I've been to many shows that have these kind of performances, perhaps only DM and NIN.. and now that I think about it, these images might have took me slightly away from the song in some moments. But overall it's an amazing experience! Don't you think? What others think?

I like both-minimalism and elaborate shows. I really liked this first show where they do a bit of visuals combined with a more stripped down feel for some songs. I don't think of the Cure as a very flashy band...so a lot more than this would maybe distract me.
It was forever ago when I saw NIN...and although I remember walking away being blown away, today I can only remember the visuals and not Reznor's performance. That said, NIN matches their visuals and music superbly.

So I was wrong...the screens are on...but are almost completely dark through the majority of the song. At the end, it slowly starts showing some of the overhead lights...then builds to include more and more lights at the very end of the song. Doh!
The Cure kicked off their latest US tour in New Orleans on Tuesday night. Leading up to the jaunt, the band had promised “37 years of Cure songs, mixing hits, rarities, favourites, and as yet unreleased tracks,” and they certainly delivered as much in the Big Easy.
Robert Smith and co. performed a 28 song set that included the first performance of Kiss Me track “All I Want” in 30 years. They also dusted off “A Letter to Elise” and “At Night” after several years, in addition to a rare appearance of “Burn” off The Crow soundtrack.
Most notably, however, were the debut of two new songs: “Step Into the Light” and “It Can Never Be the Same”. Listen to audio bootlegs of both below.
