Whoa, this is a WEIRD lineup. My first boyfriend (long hair, drove a Mustang, lol) listened to James Gang. This seems really schizophrenic. Are you going?
Not weird if you're from Ohio (which, in itself, I guess makes it that much more weird). We love all four of those bands, so we are all over this. We're seeing The Black Keys and NIN on two separate dates next month, but will gladly see them both again this year! The amount of times my wife and our friends and I have seen those two bands over the years is ridiculous... Nails in garages and random bars in Cleveland in the late '80s and early '90s; Black Keys in hole-in-the-wall dives across Akron in the 2000s. Those two bands are firmly entrenched in our musical DNA.
And Joe Walsh is beloved in these parts. By all accounts one of the "good guys" to come out of the '70s music machine churn.
I guess it's all probably an Ohio thing. Your mileage may vary.

Nothing wrong with supporting your local talent! I hope you have a good time.

Ticketmaster was an absolute sh!tshow and it was a crazy ride, but we were able to get tickets during the pre-sale! Excited to see both NIN and Black Keys twice this year, plus see Joe Walsh and The Breeders again!

Would've been cool if they had gotten Guided by Voices for this. Might've been awkward though as Robert Pollard & Kim Deal used to be a thing. Don't think it ended well. Glad you got through the TM maze. I got Springsteen tickets on a verified fan sale last week & it went pretty well. I got ADA tickets 4 rows behind the stage which are actually great for Bruce as he plays plenty to the people behind the band. I stayed within the budget I set for myself too. I've developed some strategies for these things over the years & usually am able to get tickets on the presales. I do have an "advantage" being able to get the ADA tickets. I would happily give that up & be healthy though. I'm going to RHCP tonight & the presale on that show was a total cluster. The system kept blowing up when you tried to get the ADA seats all over the country. Interesting that TM doesn't have a customer service number you can call now. You submit a form & then they blow you off & don't get back to you. I bought tickets on the club level for tonight but there are stairs involved. The show is at the baseball stadium so I talked to the staff there. They are going to reseat me in the ADA section. Excited for the show. I listened to a tape of the show Sunday in LA & the band is definitely in the groove. They are changing the setlists a lot every show (about half the songs change) so you never know what you're going to get which is kind of refreshing.

Back in 2008 the Summit County Democratic Committee held a fundraiser concert in Akron with an all-Akron natives lineup of Devo, Chrissie Hynde, and The Black Keys. It was Devo's first show in Akron since the Carter administration. Phenomenal! Looking forward to a similar vibe at the VetsAid show with this all-Ohio bill.
Hoping chuckrh had a good time watching them yesterday!
They were amazing. Chilling out today after long drive to Bend OR y byesterday. Got a ticket for face value for tonight. People here are really nice. Hotel great for realistic $. Manager of venue is taking care of me tonight & said I'm going to be really happy with seat. Venue only 8000. Trent could play much bigger places and charge a lot more. He's doing it for the fans. I expect I'm going to get some Bowie covers tonight. Great road trip, probably don't have many more of these in me. Will give full report later. Danielle , wish you were here! Time for a nice soak in the hot tub!
Last night's show was even better. The venue was amazing & organized. Trent even commented on it. I had a fantastic view from the ADA area & the parking was right outside the gate. I was back at the hotel 15 minutes after the show was over. So glad I went as the show was very different. Will post a few pictures when I get home. Long brutal drive today. I may stop halfway. More later...
My pictures weren't spectacular so I'll spare you. What a great run through Oregon with NIN though. Both shows were amazing & were quite different from each other. I didn't get the Bowie covers but it didn't matter. I'm so glad I kept going to Bend after Troutdale (Portland). Whilst the venue in Portland was pretty cool it was hard to see the band from where I was as the stage was too low. At 1 point there was a disturbance down front & Trent stopped the show & had the house lights turned on. He made sure everyone was alright & said that even though the world sucks we were there to enjoy the night & should help each other. Things got straightened out & the show continued. @ the venue in Bend I was escorted to an ADA area that was very close to the stage with a clear view. @ that show I got 3 of my favorites that weren't played the first night: Something I Can Never Have, The Wretched & Somewhat Damaged. Chuck's biography haha. Something was only the second time on the tour & amazing. 1 of my favorite songs ever. Also, for the first time every they started with March of the Pigs. What a banging way to start the show. There were many other highlights for me over both shows. As usual, the sound & visual presentation were stellar. Even though it hurt me, I'm so glad I went to both shows. I don't know how many (if any) road trips like this I have left in me. One thing that struck me was how Trent set up everything to be fan friendly. He could play much bigger venues for a lot more money. Even the merch was inexpensive & very high quality. Basic t-shirts were $30 & long sleeve $40. For perspective, Red Hot Chili Peppers were charging $50 for basic t-shirts. When Trent talks, he seems very humble & grateful. He doesn't have to tour anymore. I think part of it is to honor Bowie. The story is out there how Bowie basically saved his life & mentored him. I think Bowie would be proud of the results. Here's a few highlights I found on youtube:

I'm so glad you were able to go to those two shows and happy to hear what a great time you had, chuckrh! It's a testament to the power of music, the restorative affects of a live show, and just how important music is one's well-being. Thrilled for you! Hang in there.
