I sort of did that, but felt uncomfortable with all the "unknowns". That's one reason I picked Mané. I though that as he plays for Sporting in the Portuguese top flight, he'd get games (& goals). Seems I was wrong there. I think Denmark will beat Sweden later & meet Germany in the final, so my team is a tad loaded with Germans today
In the group stages those who paid enough attention to the rules and could determine the best strategy won, i.e. me. I'd never heard of most of the players, I had no prior knowledge of their performances in qualifying. I did a little research, stuck to my thoughts that England are always overestimated and hence players are over priced, and then played the game as well as I could.
Now they've given everyone 6 transfers and an unnecessary extra £5 million. If subs are not allowed between matches then you just pick the 11 who you will think will do best. Given the low prices of some players who have done very well then we may all end up with very similar teams.
It may all come down to the captaincy. Most people will make Volland captain as he's the highest scoring outfield player. The fly in the ointment is that he's up against the goalie who has scored more points than anyone.
But if its not Volland then who is the obvious candidate? Neither Sweden or Denmark have prolific point scorers. Plus at least if you pick a captain in the first game you can do it after the teams are announced so you know he will definitely be playing. Looks like too big a gamble to me to go for a Swedish or Danish captain.
Well whatever happens, good luck everyone.
All valid comments Graham, but we both have different mindsets. You're protecting a lead, whereas I'm chasing. Something has to change, something has to give. We're all getting funneled down the same black tunnel where opportunities to catch up are limited. Tonight is one last throw of the dice from me.
