Very good point actually.
I think really, there are bootlegs that are considered extremely collectible.
I know from the MyHeartland forum that Sisters collectors do actively chase certain boots that are predominantly very rare (very few pressed).
But what does often happen is that some douchebag will run off a number of copies of a rare one & pass it off as the "real deal".
Usually that's done with CD boots & to be blunt, I would advise anyone to avoid CD boots like the plague, as they are more often than not cruddy mp3s on a CDR masquerading as silver CDs.
Vinyls are a harder thing to copy. But there are fakers.
