This is not an 'official news', but i didn't know in which other part of the forum i could post my question (it can be moved to appropriate section)...
I'm trying to remember which tracks from the albums Robert said was his favourites to make the best of
(R is for i'm sure Robert cited this song as his fave)
so maybe can you remember something and complete the list
10.15 boys don't cry a forest faith (R) one hundred years the lovecats (most radio airplayed?) shake dog shake (R) (no souvenir for THOTD) just like heaven (R) disintegration (?) friday i'm in love (best selling single) bare (R) out of this world (?) (no souvenir for TC) (no souvenir for 4:13)
i think that's quite accurate, i know he rated the following songs
3ib/10:15/fireincairo from the first album the figurehead especially lyrically from pornography deep green sea/open/end from wish out of this world/bloodflowers from bloodflowers
i'll be very suprised if underneath the stars isn't his favourite from 4:13 dream i thought he'd probably rate want from wms as his favourite but if you're sure on bare? the head is difficult to guess as he obviously likes night like this/inbetween/push/close to me as they are played a lot but wouldn't be suprised if his favourite is sinking japanese whispers is also hard as he said he preferred just one kiss to let's go to bed when it came out as a single but i imagine he rates lament and the lovecats too
and i'll have a wild guess at lost for the selftitled!!
his favourite from kiss me is definitely just like heaven? i know he rates it as his best pop song but i wouldnt be surpsied if the the kiss wasn't his favourite song from the album or maybe if only tonight
(thanks for puting this in the right part of the forum)
thanks mralphabet
3ib, i thought that as well, as i can understand because it's a example of things to come, but fireincairo , really? i remember reading he prefers just one kiss to let's go to bed, but i don't know which song is his fave of that period, lament would be cool indeed. the figurehead , i didn' know that, but is he satisfied with the musica s well? deep green sea/open/end from wish, mmh, i wonder which is his fave, i think he likes deep green sea indeed. bloodflowers, i remember he explained why he used this name (the painting and a book he liked) but does he rate this song higher than ootw... underneath the stars, why? because we like it? he may prefer freakshow! argh! bare: yeah i remember reading this, and at the time it was also his mom's favourite i remember he likes jupiter crash too. i thnk to remember he likes 2 late too. i thought about the kiss too, but it's just guitar isn't it, and just like heaven is a good song anyway, even if it's pop, so i don't know about TC, it seems the promise is a fan favourite, i really doesn't like it.
10.15 three imaginary boys boys don't cry a forest m all cats ae grey faith (R) one hundred years pornography the lovecats (most radio airplayed?) shake dog shake (R) in between days (RoD) the kiss just like heaven (R) disintegration (?) 2 late from the edge of the deep green sea friday i'm in love (best selling single) yo wish impossible things (J) this twilight garden want (R) jupiter crash (R) bare (R) out of this world (?) bloodflowers (no souvenir for TC) (no souvenir for 4:13)
i think he said there were a few he liked from the first album and i think fire in cairo was amongst them i'm sure he's happy with the music on the figurehead, he says he does rate the song a favourite, especially lyrically i dont know if he rates bloodflowers above ootw, but i know he likes both of them a lot didnt know bare was his mum's fave song but in the 10 imaginary years book it says she likes the faith album best? i'm guessing at underneath the stars, he often puts his favourite song as first or last track and uts certainly tops 4:13 dream poll. but then again he does like to play his own personal favourites from albums so maybe he likes the hungry ghost best as it seems to be the most played song live from 4:13, even more so than the only one unlike the promise which i had no idea was a fan's favourite, i thought it would come near the bottom of a TC song poll. never liked it much either, too long and doesnt seem to do much. lot of classic bob whining in it though!
you're right on 2late, he does like that one a lot and recently said in an interview that 2late is the only cure song he'll sing around the house, like when he's in the shower. not sure on other B sides,
how about other tracks which werent on albums like singles such as charlotte and wrong number? i imagine charlotte is a favourite
and didnt he say that "a boy i never knew" was his favourite from the TC sessions?. about time that was released properly with the really amazing "please come home". was hoping to hear tham on a 4:14 album if it ever comes out
about editing, i think that after something like 10 minutes you can't anymore, but no problem, don't worry.
I hink i have to re-read all the itws, sigh....
i really don't remember about fireincairo, i have to find that out (i believe you though) i put m because it's about m, but there is probably another one. faith album was a favourite indeed. about figurehead you are probably right, but i think i have to keep only two songs from the firsts albums (up to THOTD) or else we'll finish with 50 tracks, and if i imagine a double cd, it's just a bout 25 songs. the promise is a fan favourite among some other fans i know, as well as wrong number, and freakshow, and i dislike the three of them
already 30 songs... t's got to be a triple cd then...

Faith: ``I don`t think I`ll ever write a song that`ll ever move me as much as `Faith,` that`ll change my life as much as that song did, or encapsulate a period of my life as well as that one does.``
End: ``It achieves everything I wanted it to.``
Just Like Heaven: ``The best pop song the Cure has ever done. All the sounds meshed, it was one take, and it was perfect. I love Dinosaur Jr.`s version of the song, and they`ve influenced how we play it.``
Boys Don`t Cry: ``Because it just reminds me of being very young.``
Forest: ``The archetypal Cure sound, it was probably the turning point when people started listening to the group and thinking we could achieve something, including me.``
