So I was listening to a bootleg of the Irving Plaza show from 1997 when it dawned on me that they were playing the Mixed Up version. I went and listened to a couple other shows from around that time and found that the 28 Oct Hollywood and the 17 Dec Shepherd's Bush shows also had the "manchester version" of Close To Me played at them as well. Does anyone know if there are any other "Mixed Up" versions of songs floating around out there?
there is a version of Forever that they play a couple of riffs of carnage visors... and a version of A forest that Robert sings b sides extracts (clearly 2 late and harold and joe 1996... just like the famous Killburn version
In my hunting around for live renditions of the Mixed Up songs, I actually re-discovered a LGTB remix that was the B-side for the Never Enough 12" that oddly enough was left off of Join The Dots along w/ the Primary (Red Mix) that I had on the 12" vinyl for Close To Me from that release. To that end, I've been having some fun today hunting them down and creating a "Mixed Up Deluxe" in my iTunes that collects all of these weird remixes.
The Track listing goes like this: 1. Lullaby (Extended Mix) 2. Close To Me (Closer Mix) 3. Fascination Street (Extended) 4. The Walk (Everything Mix) 5. Lovesong (Extended Mix) 6. A Forest (Tree Mix) 7. Pictures of You (Extended Dub Mix) 8. Hot Hot Hot!!! (Extended Mix) 9. Why Can't I Be You? (Extended remix) 10. The Caterpillar (Flicker Mix) 11. Inbetween Days (Shiver Mix) 12. Never Enough (Big Mix) 13. Let's Go To Bed (Milk Mix) 14. Primary (Red Mix) 15. Just Like Heaven (Dizzy Mix)
It's kind of neat finally having all of these under one roof, so to speak!
