I think so to to a degree.
I'm afraid to say I think that Conchita got the votes for exactly that & NOT the song.
If it had been a leggy brunette female, the song would never have won.

Maybe. Personally I liked the song; I like big dramatic diva tunes. Aside from that, though, there was a lot of talk about how the Eastern European Countries wouldn't vote for her as it was an 'abomination' of some sort, and that didn't happen on the night. OK so it won't bring down the Russian government, but if Conchita winning helps open up attitudes even in a small way, I'm all for it. And anything is better than the faux Bumford Malta and Switzerland rubbish, anyway
