and what's that rubbish about "America the leader"???!!! Leader of what/who? And why, how? So much nonsense in just one (highly questionable) sentence!
Well, as much as I like Robert (and as much as I don't get religion myself, I grew up without it)...people do seem to need something like religion, so if religion's out something else comes in -> usually ideologies/political & social theories like marxism etc. Historia vitae magistra.
Agree with you on that melly80. Yes, some people are needing religion and stick a text on a column that China and Russia will befall something horrible and when you don't believe in God also (this is what I can remember, not very much, I know, it's more from my memory). Like I've said it thousand times: I'm happy that I'm not religious
I walk wondering why, the same dream so many times
We (humans) are just a little more sophisticated than a Chimpanzee....and only by very little and even that is questionable. And please, We (America) don't want to be the leader in anything. Believe it or not there are people starving and struggling to survive over here too. *steps off soap box*
Let's not let this thread descend into twaddle about religion & politics please. There's farcebook for that crap. <--last word.
Back on topic, ravenslament has a point in that UFO theorists (or those that are most vocal) are all too often borderline insane. That does undermine their credibility somewhat & so others that subscribe to the theory of other life are often ridiculed. It's a well known fact that airline pilots & even astronauts decline the opportunity to report unidentified objects lest they be subject to all manner of psych reviews & run the risk of being "put out to pasture". These people are usually well adjusted & extremely intelligent & highly trained individuals that don't want to be associated with the loonies who make all the noise. It would be extraordinarily arrogant to think we are the only life forms in the universe but it would also be pretty conceited to think any of those life forms would be in the slightest bit interested in us. & if they do have the technology to reach us, then I'd say we're pretty damn lucky they haven't actually erased us from existence (which is no more than we deserve as a race).
