As a long standing Interpol fan too I found it weaker than the others (especially the first two ones) but still a very remarkable record. I remember critical reaction on "Interpol" album was generally positive but not that enthusiastical, yes. And I consider 'Lights' a tremendous track and one of the best Interpos songs ever
One of the 2014 releases I've been really looking forward to is Alcest's ''Shelter''. I've been wanting to hear it since September and I can't believe that I'll be able to hear it in less than a week!
Formerly they are a black metal band but through the years they've come to shoegazing sounds. I believe that many call them as blackgaze genre inventors. ''Shelter'' (their 4th studio album) is supposed to be shoegaze record, as Neige (frontman) says - it has wavy sounds. I read that this album is about his relationship with the sea. Also on this album there are guest vocals by Neil Halstead! This is so amazing since I'm a shoegaze lover. So if any other of you like shoegaze sounds, I suggest listening to this album. You can look up for reviews of it too. And check out their single ''Opale''.
By the way, they are French and their songs are in French, but in new album there will be some songs in English. Although I don't know French, I searched for translation of lyrics and I must say that their song words are incredibly beautiful and dreamy. One more interesting thing - Alcest serves as the musical adaptation of the memories from Neige's "otherworld" which he had experienced as a child. It's not a fantasy world, but something real; believe it or not, but they are still worth listening to. This January and February they are touring in Europe. Sadly, my country is not included in tour-list, but I hope that'll change soon.

Bit of an acquired taste - Swans brought out their new album 'To be Kind' yesterday. It's on my ever growing list of 'to get' so I haven't got it yet, but what I have heard does sound good...
