Oh, another album of 2013 that I really liked and still like was Hurts' new one!
My impression is that they tried too much to be a stadium band..and that's sad :/ As an album, it's rather imperfect IMO. Some songs, however, help it standout from the synthpop crowd (and 'Miracle' is a great track, isn't it? )
Yes, I LOVE "Miracle"! I think, I just like the 80s vibe to their sound.
Daft punk s album sounds like a cross between parliament and Abba .
ahahah L. Honestly? think Daft Punk have not only made their best album - a career-defining album, for sure - , but the smartest dance album since disco. Just wow. It's immediate, but it's challenging (oh so much!!); it's instant, but it's a grower... yes, how it manages to be all these things at once is beyond me though Listen to Casablanca's "Instant Crush"... is awesome!! ;-)
I DO like it F. but come on listen to Give Life Back to Music and tell me you're not thinking Kool and The Gang? I'll say you are fibbing. haha Sing the words to Get Down on It to the music and have a chuckle on me. PS Glad you are here... you need to come here more often!

*the boy smiles while he sings Kool & The Gang around the house*
Korn - Paradigm Shift Depeche Mode - Delta Machine Suede - Blood Sports Gary Numan - Splinter New Model Army - Between Dog and Wolf March Violets - Made Glorious
(Yes, I know that's 6, but maths was never my strong point...)
The early bird might get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.
It was indeed a pretty poor year album wise I think!
The National - Trouble Will Find Me, was easily the best for me last year. Gary Numan - Splinter, a real return to form. Savages - Silence Yourself, an impressive debut, tarnished a little by their late Hamburg gig cancellation! Chelsea Wolfe - Pain is Beauty IAMX - Unified Field
Finding 5 was hard work, there were plenty of half decent albums by the usual suspects already mentioned without any of them being outstanding.
Cool ... I am always stuck for new music so will check some of this lot out. NOTHING is going to get me listening to the Arctic Monkeys though, sorry! Surprised myself by how much I liked the National album, which I believe was a recommendation I picked up from here. I am currently enjoying Pale Green Ghosts by John Grant, title track of the album here

'AM' leaves nothing to debate, I'm afraid.. While the embryonic Monkeys were only an important act around, they've grown up a looooooot. Believe, Arctic Monkeys’ fifth record is absolutely and unarguably the most incredible album of their career. It is flawless, and a true ascendance from boys to men.
