nausearockpig put a cover I was about to indicate here, the one of the old man, I know I too will still be listening to and play Cure songs when I'm old...
A french variety-rock singer who is a Cure fan played a cover the other day when he was guest on a radio show
(thanks yoko ono at APD) (His last album is a bit a look to his teenage days he's got a song or two on which you, although not obvious, you can imagine a Cure influence (like '1987'), and it contains a song called 'fondamental' which in the video one can see the album SOAB & TIB hanging up the wall)
Oh my god! Such sexy French! I can make out one out of every 5 words, lol. The guest was a lot easier for me to make out because he spoke more clearly and a bit more slowly.
For those who want to skip ahead, the cover is Just One Kiss and starts just before the 14 minute mark. It's a lovely cover.
So, one of the things I did during my 430 something days in lockdown was start the Cure cover band that I had wanted to be in since I was 14 in 1990. Only problem was my bandmates were all also in lockdown and not into The Cure and all I knew how to play was bass. So I started at the very beginning and taught myself how to play guitar, program drums and eventually do the synth parts and got through about 20 songs before I got my shots. Singing was the tough part as you can't really fake Robert's voice but I put in a valiant effort and feel that it got better towards the end.
