Just now found out that this was intended as a single but vetoed by Boris. (According to Wikipedia, that is). See the page for A Letter To Elise.
It's my favorite Wish era song so I've a bone to pick with someone... 😂
Mention is made of some variants in that wiki page so I had a look around and found an instrumental tagged onto the end of a Bloodflowers era ROIO. Old news to some I expect.
We got a live version of End on the Deluxe, when there is an alternate Big Hand version sitting in the vaults. 🤨
It would be so perfect If you would just fall out the window
very odd that it was intended as a single when it didn't even make the cut for wish! i'd be interested in hearing alternate versions. hopefully someone can share!
It would be interesting to read transcripts for these interviews (the Wikipedia page references a 1992 KROQ interview as the source for the claim of Boris' objections). Since someone went to the trouble to list a reference, I'm more likely to think there might be some truth.
Was Boris thrown under the bus? Was someone just mouthing off? We may never know!

As i recall, the song was a reference to SG's brief substance problem & I think Boris probably thought it a bit too close to the bone. It is a gorgeous song & I've seen them do it live beautifully

I didn't look again, but I understood that the variants discussed on that page were of The Big Hand.
The instrumental is to be found as the last song on a bootleg/vapourware compilation of Bloodflowers demos. I found it on my p2p client. I have not checked to see if it is authentic actually.
