Interesting. You think TC’s latest material as played live is similar to bands like Yes, King Crimson and Rush? Prog rock? That has actually never crossed my mind.
First of all, the new songs are beautiful. Personally the term Prog-Rock does not come to my mind when I think of The Cure overall, but there are definitely some songs/elements that I would place in this category. But I do not understand why someone would consider the band to be Prog-Rock now based on the new songs. If you go this way, you should have considered them to be Prog-Rock even beforehand.

By the way, the official german site of Universal Records is claiming the Paris Live Album is for fans of 90s Grunge.
I can't get your link to load yet, but hope to find it later.
I considered it before I heard the new songs tbh. They reinforced the idea. It may not be a solid theory but it's one that I can't avoid. old man plays long songs with annoying guitars in it...
If they didn't play the singles and instead trotted out only the last 3 albums and the new songs they'd be well in the danger zone IMO.
As for comparison to Rush, et al, that was prog in the 70's. The Cure are the 20's version. 😅
It would be so perfect If you would just fall out the window
Certainly not prog rock but they have (on more than a few occasions) taken a foray into psychedelia for sure. Overall, I think they're pretty much genre-less. They're just The Cure.

Yeah boi.
If you have a lead on Brisbane 21 August 1992 - CT version, for the love of Bob, let me know. Please!
