Yeah. I'll add it to an iprod playlist that also has chimes (extended version), whale noises, drums down a hole & white noise on it. Because they are all my "go-to" tracks when I want to listen to a The Cure song.
Give it up Batman
Watching you haters, this is painful, like watching England playing football.
Aaah, but it's not a question of hating is it? Tape is a pleasant enough soundbite, as is chimes (very soothing). But the notion of zoning in on it as a valid stand-alone The Cure track seems rather absurd (to me).
*they'll prolly play it as an encore in Budapest now just to spite me*
I said it's not a song. Not really when I compare to others Cure songs. Too easy : two chords in loop, some noises, Rob saying Haaaa... Airlock is better, in this style. But I vote Yes of course. 'caus I like consensus. And I can buy this no-song for 1.29 € in Amazon. Same price as the others. And I like tape. And non-sens.
Sorry only just seen the harmonics thing - Open features some WEIRD guitar tuning . The strings are tuned vastly differently to normal . The main riff from 'tape' is simply each string in its new tuning being played in order (the last two , highest strings are the same note) . What it does mean is the basis of the song is dead easy to play on the guitar in this tuning , Shake Dog Shake also features weird tuning for Rob's guitar which then makes playing the part a doddle - apart from having a different tuning to make certain chords easier to play I always think it's a nice way of having a gentle start - by not having to tax your guitar skills so much from the first song !
