Hello, Does anyone know if London Barfly 2004 SK version is easy to find with known generation?, was the master ever shared directly with the public by the taper? eg. Dimeadozen?, and if so could someone please share it?
The reason I ask is I had 3 copies, all 3 from unknown generation CD trades, they were the same taper version but all were slightly different sound quality, also tracked differently, one big cuts in between some songs, and one had every individual song/track volume peaking with both left and right channels at -0.44dB which makes me wonder if someone had made the big mistake of normalizing each track to peak volume separately, I don’t understand how every single song from a live show can peak both L+R channels at the exact same dB without something wrong done to alter the tracks, even the track that is only Robert speaking during the encore without any music had the exact same peak volume as all the individual songs -0.44dB, there’s something wrong there if you ask me!, although I don’t have any knowledge on how some Mini Disc recorders may process audio on export, but surely the master can’t have every song with exactly the same peak volume, or maybe they were hard limited or something? I received a sample from a known generation raw/original (not looking for a remaster) and it’s obviously clearer sounding than the 2 other versions I have, so it seems the “unknown CD trade generations” have varying sound that actually aren’t as good as the “raw” version, its all a bit odd!
To cut a long-ish post short, could somebody please share a known generation “raw” (not remastered) London Barfly SK version? I think probably one of the last great shows of that line-up, Curiosa got a bit sloppy after that IMO!
So maybe a known generation of this show isn’t as common as I thought it would be? I know the actual recording is common, it can be found around a lot of places, in fact I even remember it being shared shortly after the show at one of the popular forums back in 2004, but I’m starting to think now maybe it wasn’t ever shared with known generation/info file? Does anyone know about any info file that exists with generation on it?, or they all say stuff like “unknown CD trade”? I thought a lot of people would’ve had this info?
