I really like the instrumentation on many of these covers.
Some tracks I couldn't quite get behind, mostly from a vocal standpoint: the high-pitched, nasal quality of the vocalist from Annex on One Hundred Years, the soup-to-nuts cheese metal sound of Siamese Twins, or the "Mansonesque" vocals on The Figurehead.
Standouts were A Short Term Effect, The Hanging Garden, and Pornography. I could see the vocalist on A Strange Day performing in a lounge somewhere, but I still liked that one, too. I appreciated that Ambersmoke did something "different" with Cold.
I usually hesitate to listen to covers of TC because nothing can compare to the originals, and I hate when bands are just doing impersonations, because what's the point? Thought these brought a little more to the table, in most cases.
I prefer when a band makes an own interpretation without put out the essence of the song. And i hate some bands making almost a parody, i hate some bands that makes money with tribute song... not just cure songs, even from others.
