Yeah, I'll wait. Just wondering if there are any first impressions.
I kept my original Three Imaginary Boys, The Top, Entreat and Disintegration CDs, but I thought the other remasters were actually improvements over the original CDs (at least to my ears at the time). Some of those CDs of the early albums sounded muddy.

That could be down to the manufacturer. I kept all the originals too & only play the bonus discs from the deluxe re-issues now. But your ears are yours & if what you hear sounds good to you, that's the most important factor really. But I find it wearing when the quiet passages are nearly as loud as the loud passages. The mastering on the original Messed Up CD was really good & it'd be awesome, albeit quite difficult, to get it better. Fingers crossed
Yes, I've read that some of the German pressings are superior to the USA pressings.
I think, in the earlier days of CD production, the tolerances were a fair bit larger than they are today. New tech is like that. It's a rush to get to market at the risk of cutting corners if possible.

I received mine yesterday, and I really like it.
I've also preordered the 3CD edition, but I couldn't resist, as it's the first new release from The Cure that I'm able to add to my collection this soon after it came out. So happy !
I love The Drowning Man. I miss Simon's bass, but the keyboards are beautiful.
From The Edge Of The Deep Green Sea is really good. It could have passed as an edited single mix in 92.
I'm not so hot on the rest of them. They were cool to hear, but I'm not getting much replay value out of them.
These new mixes from Robert sound very 1990. Maybe that was his intention to match the sound of Mixed Up. I don't think he did a very good job at all.
I wish he had other bands have a go at remixing the classics. We know Mogwai and Cranes have done one, that I hope to hear someday.
Imagine if he had artists/friends like Goldfrapp, Interpol, Slowdive, Nine Inch Nails, Muse do mixes? It would have tied in well with the Meltdown/Cure anniversary concert... Missed opportunity

I reordered the 6 CDs I sold back so I can compare them again.
