Thanks, Steve. Are you the same Steve who often wrote on Cure Connections in the past? Well, many people are called Steve, but.....? I did write on CCC from time to time - under the alias of Graevl. It is only a few eeks ago I can across this site. Nice to be able to chat with other fans again!

Ok, then, Steve. This is a little off-topic, but I recall that CCC had this great download forum where many concerts were shared freely. I havent been able to find anything similar on other fan sites. Well, from time to time this is a link, but nothing like CCC. Do you happen to know where to go...?

We have one here at TCC, but you need to hit 50 posts before you can access it

50 posts? Well, I am so full of Shirt and nonsense, that I will quickly reach 50 posts! Will this section appear by itself or will I have to do something?
A thousand Hours: The solo that comes in around 2.00 min. is not a six string. I am 99,5 % sure it is the Gibson SG that Robert used quite a bit on Kiss Me and the Kissing Tour. It sounds a bit "deep and dark", but that is (I think) down to the mix of the instrument. If you listen to the live version from LA it is surely not a six string. If someone could dust of the old vhs Picture Show there is a clip where you see them sound checking A Thousand Hours. The video clip has the drumpart from A Japanese Dream running at the same time, but I guess we would be able to see what Robert or Porl has in their hands. That would clear things up.

As soon add you hit 50 it will magically appear. No band or anything.

Wow. SG?! Really?! I'm not really familiar with SG sound. Those rare songs with the guitar played in 'em, that I can remember (apart from the whole AC/DC catalog ) are: some The Doors stuff and some late Radiohead's. And they don't sound like Thousand Hours at all.
It's not typical Fender VI sound but could it be just some overdrive added to it?
I'm trapped in my face
and I'm changing too much.
I can't climb out the way I fell in.
I am pretty sure about the SG. I have one myself and it sounds very much like the part in Thounsand Hours. However, of course it can be something else. You can mix any guitar to sound like almost anything. But Robert used a black SG on the Kissing Tour, so there is a fair chance that I am right. I have never seen him play the SG again, though...

Hey there. I got that on DVD… just checked it, but it's hardly footage of one song only. It's all chopped up. At one point I think Roger is playing Kioto Song.
There is one scene of Robert singing, without any guitar strapped on, one scene of Robert playing the 3-humbucker SG and one of Porl playing the red 335 (something very rockish, but probably doing it just for the camera… the camera shakes around with his sound and in the end he holds the guitar up like a rocker).
Wailing Wall to mention a few. Aside from Caterpillar, Bird Mad Girl and Shake Dog all the songs on The Top involves some kind of mutiple strings playing. Sometimes as chords, sometimes more like picking. The most tricky one is The Top itself which is really complex. Note that Simon sits down (Simon sitting!) when they play this song.
But those were recorded by Robert no?
Anyway, I came back here to show a recording I did of Primary using only a VI. I played what I thought was Simon's line using only 4 strings, and Robert's using 6, and I'm almost sure that he did recorded it with a VI. At one point I was almost sure of hearing open B string sound…

I'm sure I've read somewhere that Primary was recorded with a four and six string bass. I'm very sure that a Countdown or Top of the Pops of Primary has both Simon and Robert playing four string basses.. Maybe the 1981 Metz video has some shots that can be made out...
I FB Reeves about the recording of Primary but he hasn't yet gotten back to me.. that was months ago..
If you have a lead on Brisbane 21 August 1992 - CT version, for the love of Bob, let me know. Please!
TOTP and official video are both 4 strings. Altough TOTP doesn't really count, Roberts bass has all the strings loosened up. On the Metz video it's VI + 4 String.
