Couple of days ago I tried to search for the list of The Cure song with six string bass recorded (either Fender or Schecter). Search returned zero results so I tried to make the list myself. I took all the studio material from 1980 to 2008 including b-sides and other non-album stuff and run through it in search for that "the cure famous for" bass sound. Robert not only changed the instrument recently he also started to use distortion/overdrive effect with Schecter so it's less obvious to make out which instrument is playing. Defenately I'm deaf enough to make mistakes and can miss something easily, so any additions and corrections are welcome! Hope somebody find it usefull. So...

As far as I know, Primary and Descent were both recorded with regular 4 String Fender P-Basses as opposed to the six string (Robert's with a flanger effect, Simon's was clean). I would also assume (but am not at all sure) that this also applies to Carnage Visors, but I think Faith was recorded with a Six String. But either way, great research!

Primary is famous display of four string bass combination from both. For others I mostly don`t have a clue.
Thanks pointing this out, guys. I was doubting about Primary. The earlier videos show two P-bass used but during the Show and In Orange there is 6string bass in Porl' and Robert' hands.
Gave Descent an extra run... have to agree with two P-bass using on this one two. In Carnage visors though there is one part in the right chanel that souds deffenately like six string bass to me.
So Primary and Descend are out of this list and heading to the "two bass recording list".

As far as I can tell, In Orange Bob has a Telecaster for Primary. That's where all the thrashed harmonics & lead riffs are coming from (love those 86 versions) Porl is wielding the VI though.

that's what I was trying to say: In Orange - Porl plays SSB, Show - Robert does.
