Any other fans here? I've loved this band a long time (not as long as the Cure but significant). I've seen them several times & they never disappoint. 1st rate musicians all around, especially Nels Cline on guitar. He's a maniac in an excellent way. Anyway, they are playing 2 nigths in Seattle at the beginning of September in a small theater. I got on their website for a fan presale yesterday. Small amount of tickets available. Well, I must've hit refresh at the right time. 2 seats front row center popped up. I am quite excited!
Yep, I think you should listen to their own records. 'Yankee Hotel Foxtrot' is a nice start. A true masterpiece. There's a documentary about the making of this album that is an absolutely gem. It's called 'I am Trying to Break Your Heart' .
My personal favorite is "Summerteeth". Kind of Jeff Tweedy's Brian Wilson record. That is with the old lineup. "A Ghost is Born" is quite good, too. A good start would be the live "Kicking Television". That was the first with the current band. & yes "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot" is a masterpiece. There is another great video called "Ashes of American Flags". It's a live documentary & there are some mind bending performances.
Yes! I'm also a fan, although what's funny is I've never seen Wilco perform but I have seen Jeff Tweedy perform loads of times. When I was in college I listened to Uncle Tupelo...which was pretty amazing at the time, as alt country did not really exist yet.
Have you seen this? It's Jeff Tweedy with his band Tweedy (consisting of him and his son on drums) doing a "what's in my bag" vid. I thought it was sweet.
The stars must be aligned right or something. I bought a pair for the first Seattle show on the band presale & ended up with front row center. A week later on a lark, I went in Ticketbastard to see what was available for the second show. My friend likes them plenty but 2 nights in a row would be tough so I put in for 1 ADA seat. Front row off to the side popped up! I couldn't pass on that. So, even though my wallet is hurting, I'm going both nights & sitting in row A on the main floor. Wilco is right up with the Cure, Flaming Lips, Jeff Beck & Neil Finn on my favorite music list. It's turning out to be a fine music summer! PS: much like the Cure, Wilco vary their setlists plenty. I'm sure I will get very different sets over the 2 nights. woo hoo!
"All lives, all lives you say? I can see you are afraid. Your skin, so thin your heart has escaped. All lives, all lives you say. You were born at the end of a noose. What was up came down with the blues. But you don't know how to sing anything anyway. So all lives, all lives you say.
My, my, My mind is gone. It's too hard for me to know when I'm wrong. This is the last dying gasp of a deadly lung turning blue on a lawn in the sun."
