Thinking it might just be a theme, the fact that it's endless, the sequence, the spiral, it never ends right? Also read on steve 's link 'The angle 137.508° is the golden angle which is approximated by ratios of Fibonacci numbers.' (And it's still Fibonacci on the right-hand shirt)
But everything has to end eventually...

That's what I was considering too. I saw some pics of the tour program & there is a photo of them with 3 & 5 in the background. Both in the sequence. (1, 1, 2, 3, 5....) I took it as 3 being the Three Imaginary Boys & 5 being the five they are now. I want to get a lyric transcript of It Will Never Be The Same to see if there are maybe some answers there, especially as that is what they seem to end the set with (at least the past 2 shows).
Just going to add on here that, if they were concealing a date from this, my bet would be on 61.8 = 8/16. August. No gigs in August? Maybe new album. One can wish.

I love this. I was having a hard time hearing all the lyrics in the live recordings. This song is so emotional, in only the way the Cure can make it so sincere and not sappy. Have to say, Robert and co. have been bringing so many tears to my eyes these last few days. I'm a mess, but so excited and amazed at how this band can evoke such reactions for so many years.
it can never be the same is also on smith's new guitar. there is definitely something going on here. I suspect that there is a grand scheme that is going to be rolled out over the next few weeks and we're only seeing part of it atm.

Those lyrics are quite heartbreaking. It does suggest an end to something, but that something will never end. I need to hear a nice clean version & see what I hear. There have been a few songs where Bob seems to have hinted at sticking a fork in it & walking away. This one is definitely another one.
btw changed the title of the thread. Hope you don't mind

Even if the song is supposed to suggest that The Cure will end soon, I wouldn't panic considering how many times Robert has mentioned the end of the group before. Also, I dont wanna jump into conclusions, but the lyrics made me think about Bowie, since he was such a huge inspiration for Robert.
The dream had to end
The wish never came true
And the girl starts to sing

this will be the last full tour, there may be some festivals here and there and maybe the odd one off show here and there, but I reckon given Robert is 57 at this point, he's gonna retire soon...
I also think this will be the last album by The Cure - going out on a high.

I don't understand why people keep saying this is the last tour...there is no evidence that this is the last tour, other than Robert's talk EVERY YEAR that the end is sooner than later, but we know better than to take that talk too seriously, no? He did say at the end of the second NOLA show, "dare I say, see you again"...which hints that he, himself, hopes it's not quite the end yet.
Yes, they are all getting older. But in several interviews in 2012/2013 Robert mentions how he missed singing when they took a break. As long as he enjoys it, I think he will continue performing!

Just a feeling I get. Yes he says he's been retiring since the end of the Prayer Tour - this isn't what I'm talking about. I'm talking about him thinking, and saying that's it's a bit naff that he'd be singing "boys don't cry" at age 60 in lipstick... etc.. I doubt any "last tour" would be touted as such, I think that a day will come where he just can't go through touring any more.
If you have a lead on Brisbane 21 August 1992 - CT version, for the love of Bob, let me know. Please!
I don't think it's a coincidence. There are a few songs about astronomical stuff (Jupiter Crash, Underneath the Stars) and lots of passing references. Count, on any one night, how many times Robert mentions going to the moon. Science and the universe seem to be a running theme.
Also, was very pleased to be able to get a bona fide spiral cure shirt :-D
And after we've all bought our tickets, tshirts, etc., RS can afford that Virgin Galactic reservation. :-)

It would be so perfect if you would just fall out the window
