i think brian setzer is a very underrated guitarist
when you play a not rated kind of music often you are underrated as musician. i do like how they played and the way they played cello on stage, rare thing although it sounds almost like an electric bass
My parents were hippy prog rockers, so I grew up with Pink Floyd, Hawkwind, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, T-Rex, Tangerine Dream, David Bowie, Camel, and so on. I still listen to Floyd, Hawkwind, Sabbath & Bowie. I'm glad my parents were into that type of music as it's definitely influenced my present-day tastes

Yep. Double bass. It's amazing to see the three of them live. You just don't expect that sort of performance from three people with minimal instruments. Setzer is like having two guitarists at the same time. I still think he's the best guitarist I've ever seen live, even after seeing Gilmour's Pink Floyd.
The Beatles...Sgt Pepper....came out when I was 6 years old. The Beatles weren't allowed in the house when I was growing up as dad thought they were "communists". Thankfully he mellowed out in his old age. My friends & I used to sneak listens from their older brother's collections. One friend in particular had a brother who was a hardcore Beatles fan. So, the Beatles were an important part of my musical upbringing. Giving a little perspective here. All that being said, I picked up the new 50 anniversary stereo mix of Sgt Pepper with some trepidation. "Improving" the classics always gives me some pause. Much to my surprise, the new mix is amazing. It's like hearing the record for the first time. This is the first time that the stereo mix hasn't been an after thought. Initially all the attention was lavished on the mono mix as stereo was in its infancy. In the rush to get the records out on cd, the original stereo was used. So, 50 years later, a proper stereo mix has been done. It's a different record. There is much more guitar appearant & some of it is brilliant. George Harrison was a reluctant guitar god & his contributions were often overlooked. Giles Martin learned a lot from his dad about production & has worked with the likes of Kate Bush & Jeff Beck. His work here is stunning. His soundtrack for "Love" was outstanding, also. If you are a fan at all, get this. I got the 2 cd version. Most of the extra disc is ok & kind of a peek into the process. The exceptions being "Strawberry Fields" & "Penny Lane". Worth the few extra shekels for those 2 songs. Don't know if I'd go for the super deluxe unless I was rich but I'm sure it has its moments. It also has the mono mix. This record would love to turn you on....
