This isn't an ice skating rink but 1 of the major roads connecting the western part of Washington with the eastern part. Needless to say, the mountain pass was closed.
Geographically, yes Manitoba is considered central Canada, but it terms of social, economic, and political reasons, it is very much part of the west, which includes (BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Central Canada is southern Ontario (Toronto, London, Birmingham etc) and southern Quebec (Montreal, la ville de Quebec, Trois-Rivières, etc).
funny how you should mention the cold, on our first night in a Florida my sister and me practically froze. We were in toques, scarves, mitts and down jackets, and we were still so cold! That east coast humidity chills you right to the bones, whereas here, it’s quite different. Thankfully.
Wait... What?... London and Birmingham?
I know, I know, just kidding. But it's always amazes me that there are so many European towns and cities in North America
Trust mean I tell you that the London in Canada is nothing like the London in the UK.

Wow! Like a bobsleigh track
But I don't see And I don't feel But tightly hold up silently My hands before my fading eyes And in my eyes Your smile
I mistook stars reflected in a pond at night for those in the sky.
Tomorrow and on New Year's Day it's going to be +15/+16°C in my city. This is absolutely insane. 20 years ago everybody said it was hot when at New Year's Eve was -5°C. We were celebrating all night outside then.
