Taking a break from fixing brunch for seven. We’re having some neighbors over in a couple of hours. This is the second neighbor-brunch we’re having in two weeks. Since our spawn was born, we’ve pretty much stopped “entertaining” other than informal sitting around with friends. I’m really enjoying a return to being more social in our home.
Prepping a room for painting. This is the worst spackling I've ever used; it's the consistency of microwaved brie. I also forgot my cardinal home maintenance rule as a stoner: pick one place to put your tools down, and one place only.

This is something that I insist on. Having had things like 5S, lean & Shingijutsu drilled into me, wandering around to try to find something that should be right where you need it really makes me cross. Just about all the experts who've worked on the house must have spent more time trying to find a tool than actually doing the work. Especially the sparky. I have never known anyone so disorganised. He's done a bang up job though.

Yes, this must be top of mind for you! It'll all be over soon - wow!!!!!

I admire you. I feel unable to do any bigger renovating / fixing work in the house. It's beyond me.
But I don't see And I don't feel But tightly hold up silently My hands before my fading eyes And in my eyes Your smile
I mistook stars reflected in a pond at night for those in the sky.

I started doing construction work at 17 when I went away to college and have also worked as a painter and welder. It’s stuff I enjoy.
I’m sure you could do it with practice! But it’s also fine to hire people!

I guess the most difficult thing is to really decide to start something... after that you just deal with what comes next... by yourself or with some help.

Or the most difficult thing is to start something and not to be able to finish it or do it right...
I tried a couple of times and there was always something wrong. No technical skills, no knowledge (YT videos is not enough), not enough strength in hands. I try to do little things but it's getting harder and harder.
