Blackbird update... This morning I went down with the intention of letting her go. Overnight, she had food and water & I had put a wicker basket over her so she didn't try to fly around the basement & bash into stuff, potentially injuring herself. I opene the back door, then the basement door & as soon as I lifted the basket, she made a dash for it & flew straight out of the back door It was nice to see, but I was a bit disappointed not to get a photo of her. She was so fast that it wasn't possible. Hope she hooks up with her blackbird friends though.
It was a very good job. Happy for your blackbird. One more life saved.
But I don't see And I don't feel But tightly hold up silently My hands before my fading eyes And in my eyes Your smile
I mistook stars reflected in a pond at night for those in the sky.
I’ve been on hold with IT for over 1.5 hours. 😐 “We are currently experiencing higher than normal call volumes”, if that were really the case, why do I hear that recorded message every time I call ? Hmmm !

Going to the dentist shortly, please cross your fingers for me that everything will go well. I hate seeing the dentist/ orthodontist. 😐
They are my worst nightmare. One time I went for a filling & all they had to do was take a syringe out of a packet & I had an anxiety attack & passed out.

Oh Steve, I get it !
When I was a child, I had a filling done without any novocaine; trust me when I say that a felt everything that the dentist did to me that day. 😭 I also had braces, so I’ve spent many an hour in that dreadful chair being poked and prodded by the ortho/dentist. I hate it !

I had that done with no novocaine once when I was about 11, too! I can't remember whether the dentist offered that or I asked, but it was awful! I always white-knuckle it now at the dentist. All this to say, I know exactly where you are coming from. Finger crossed for you!

When I was 10, I got run over. During the accident I was thrown into the kerb & the impact broke one front tooth into a spike & knocked the one next to it out altogether. My dad actually found the knocked out tooth & the hospital sterilised it & re-implanted it. I had a cement brace on it for weeks similar to how you have a cast on a broken arm or leg. That brace kept breaking & I was in & out of dentists to have it fixed. Then the broken tooth got an infection & I went unconscious in an emergency room toilet because of the pain. It had died & needed to be root filled. It was filled & a copper wrap put around it for about a month. The implanted tooth also eventually died & so I had to have a denture made along with a crown for the busted one (I was around 12 by this time having been in & out of dentists for all that time). I kept breaking the denture & even snapped the crowned tooth off on the edge of a toasted sandwich (which really freaked my dad out), at which point the dentist decided a bridge would be best although my mouth was still growing. That lasted quite a while. It fell out a few times & I had to have it re-cemented, but it stayed until I was on a business trip in Italy & I broke a pice off it. By this time I was terrified of dentists through & through. I then started a new job that had discounted dental care included & was talked into getting it sorted out. The guy was really nice but I was still petrified. He measured me up for a new porcelain bridge & had to remove what was left of the old one which had been fixed for around 15 years at that point. Buzz saws, pliers, everything bar the jaws of life were used to get the thing off after which I had to bite into hot whatever it is they use so he could make a perfectly fitting porcelain bridge. I spent a week & a half with a gap & a spike as my 2 front teeth while it was being made. Once it was in, it was good & has not been any hassle since. Sorry for the long essay, but my deep fear of dentists is maybe as a result of all this & although I now know they're not so bad, I still shut down and curl into a shivering ball (or even pass out) when I have to go.

Fingers crossed!
PS. Also for every one of you who has to meet a dentist. Terrible stories you wrote and I won't add mine because it would be too much. Just let me say that I know what the sound and feeling of drilled jaw bone are. I believe I'm brave though, I feel like passing out only when I hear "scalpel, please".
Thank you for sharing your stories, I’d like to give each of you a virtual embrace. I wonder if everyone has a tale to tell about being in the dentist’s chair?
I’m happy to report that yesterday’s appointment went pretty well! There was only a tiny bit of discomfort involved.
