Do it!Some favorite trips of ours in Europe have been Germany, Scotland, Estonia, and Finland.
I couldn't agree more that something to look forward to is crucial. Planning your 40th well affords this opportunity. Cr@p, guess I'd better get on planning 50... I can "look forward" to that, lol.
Never been to either Estonia or Finland. What did you like most about those countries ?? We should really start a new, travel tread on this board - but then I’ll fill it up with my nonsense! Note - I love love both Scotland and Germany. Berlin is actually one of my favourite cities that I’ve visited. And admittedly, I’m a huge fan of the Scottish accent, so many good times were had in Glasgow. 😄
I really hope you do something spectacular for your 50th!!
In Helsinki, we had one of the best high-end dining experiences we've ever had anywhere in the world at this place called Olo. We also took a boat to this fortress off the coast called Suomenlinna. It was really cool to walk around, sit on the cannons, and they had a nice brewpub onsite. I was also the most seasick of my life (90% of the passengers were sick) on the ferry ride from Helsinki to Estonia. Helsinki on that trip was also the first time I felt my baby kick (IIRC I was about 5 months pregnant), so that place will always be special to me.
I'm of Scottish heritage and my husband is of Irish, so we enjoy insulting each other about that. I'm a sucker for any kind of British accent, including Scottish.
Yes! Start a travel thread! That would be amazing. Give it a good, Cure-y name.
