As per Scott McKenzie’s instructions, it is essential you don the proper attire today. You don’t want to look like a tourist now do you?
Welcome to the Golden City for night 1 of The Cure’s double header here as they make their way North.
You’ll probably know the city from it’s iconic Golden Gate Bridge which was meant to be black & gold. But, due to the great paint crisis of the 1930’s, Irving Morrow was forced to leave it in its original primer colour, now called “international orange”.
You’ll also recognise Pier 39 (named after a The Cure song) where the sea lions live & also the home of the big noodle.
But, unquestionably, the most famous institution in the city is Starfleet Command’s HQ which was instrumental in monitoring & co-ordinating the Federation’s response to the Whale Probe crisis in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home.
Tragedy struck the famous command centre when an angry Sherlock Holmes deliberately crashed his spaceship into the structure after demands to return his favourite hat were ignored.
Thankfully, with the help of Starfleet academy’s building faculty, the area was quickly rebuilt in time for Kirk's birthday party a few years later.
With all the baddies now eliminated, the city should be a safe place which will be a comfort to fiveswinglive as he swings into town for what we hope will be a wonderful show.
He’ll have quelled his hunger with a hearty clam chowder bread bowl & quenched his thirst thanks to a few Los Gigantes.
So we have five colours to pick from for this one. Let’s save some for Monday though.
