There is nothing like the feeling of meeting your new coworker and learning you have both lived in the same tiny far-off town. Then, when you mention the year you moved away she says, "Oh, yeah! I was born in that year!"

It’s pretty crazy though how the two of you lived in the same small town possibly at the same time ! Is the town in NY state ?
Side note, these past few years we’ve hired several recent university graduates. Sometimes they make me feel like a grumbling ruin, especially when they call the stuff I’m into ‘retro’.

It's great, really. But I guess I feel you...
The first time I felt that something was wrong with my age was the moment I realized that I worked with people 10 years or so younger than me. The worse thing was to realize that there were not many things to talk about apart from work with some of them. But the worst was when a young person gave up her seat on the bus to me. That was painful...
But I don't see And I don't feel But tightly hold up silently My hands before my fading eyes And in my eyes Your smile
I mistook stars reflected in a pond at night for those in the sky.

The older I get, the less I find I have in common with younger people. That said, I do enjoy regaling them with stories from when I was their age. I’m fairly certain that at least a few of them find me certifiable, or as they would say ‘not basic’. 😄

Yeah, I feel you on the retro. I remember going out drinking with some 20-something coworkers a couple of years ago and one of them made some kind of comment about my "wisdom and life experience." Death knoll. Bring out the Geritol.

Very cool that you’re from Oregon!
I bet you taught those youngsters a thing or two ! But did they listen to and absorb all of that wisdom ?

Not from, but lived there for a bit.
They *did* absorb all that wisdom and then promptly died because the mysteries of life had all been solved.
Tip - it’s a good thing to be aware of whether your webcam is on, especially when engaging with co-workers.
Do tell!
I’m pretty horrified actually. I inadvertently flashed my co-workers and bosses during a meeting this morning. I thought I had shut off my camera when I changed tops, which evidently, I failed to do. Yep. Kinda glad that I’m currently working from a different time zone .
