I think I might be done caring about this band. Every release gets more stupid.
This makes me sad, but I also get it. I would imagine hearing something like that from someone for whom the band has been important would make RS very sad. But not knowing him, maybe that's not true... We all outgrow things in our lives.
All of this stupid merchandising (IMO vinyl, and especially picture discs, are no different than those plastic, big-headed figurines or bucket hats) is, I assume, because of a business contract required of them. It sucks that this landfill fodder has become part and parcel of "music." But people are attracted to this stuff. As long as there's a market for it, it will continue to get cranked out at the behest of record companies.
i Think there is a boundry where begins the COLLECTING THINGS and ends COLLECTING MUSIC... in my case yes i collect things... so... sometimes is no matter of sound quality...
It's really a matter of personnal taste as usual. I really like this album and i hope the picture disc will look good. Although for example I didn't buy the Faith one or JW because i didn't like the look of it, and although I really really dislike transparent window on sleeves (whereas pictured transparent plastic sleeves are awesome). It's just... I want it, it's very primal.
Show (1cd version) was one of the first Cure albums I ever bought and therefore has a special place in my heart, but I have to admit that I rarely listen to it nowadays. They really should have included A Forest on the cd version, even if it meant dropping other songs. It really is a shame that what is in many ways the most iconic Cure song, doesn't have a proper live version release from the so called golden era. A really good version of A Forest wasted. Paris in the other hand... I listen to it more often, but mostly the first tracks having great versions of Porno and 17s songs. An extended Paris could be interesting. Not that interested in the picture disc releases altogether. A new album could be nice. I heard some good songs live last year. I guess they forgot them.
Paris has good bootlegs, the two shows that make up Show does not. We don't even know what they played on the second night I think? So release a full Show please:) But most of all, don't mess up the remix or remaster or whatever it is this time.

I haven't yet forgiven what they did to Entreat (plus). I sold all my cds away a few years ago and I think the original Entreat (actually the yellow card sleeve) is the only thing I'm going to miss.
