I'm a vinyl hater (personally only, I have nothing against people buying those). I love all digital formats, even lossy codecs (but not mp3 - that is history). Strictly 2.0 stereo man with harman-kardon and tannoy gear. I listen mostly from my pc connected to home stereo, sometimes with my android phone and sennheiser and akg headphones. I have about 1000 cd's that I rarely listen or buy anymore nowadays. I think my cd player doesn't even function properly anymore. I rip everything to flac and opus. I don't like music streaming, it's not for serious listening for me, only occasionally. Bandcamp is the platform I prefer for music purchases.
One good thing about music, when it hits you feel no pain So hit me with music, hit me with music
For me, it’s all digital, so it’s either on my phone, laptop or tv. I got rid of my stereo and record player years ago, and I’m regretting having made that decision.
We've got a record player & two dogs. Just before Plainsong finishes there's enough fluff on the stylus to fill a queen sized duvet
No vinyl for me. I can agree it's nostalgic and there's value in that for some, but I can't agree it sounds good. Added to that the fact that vinyl is horribly impractical and get ruined easily depending on how it's stored and treated. It's heavy and takes up a boatload of space.
I listen to old CDs I've ripped and downloads on my iPhone/earbuds or on our tv, for which I bought Mr. K a nice sound bar last Christmas. He also has a subwoofer for it. I wouldn't say we're audiophiles by a stretch, but the tv has pretty good sound, now. My earbuds are budget, but rated highly by Wirecutter. Since I walk everywhere or take public transit, I most often listen to music when I'm doing those things. At work, I have a JBL clip speaker that I use to play music during sessions. Replacing that with a better speaker is on my work wishlist.
I don't stream music. I don't believe artists should be expected to give their work away and starve. I will, on occasion, listen to Internet radio.
When at home, I play music on an old Technics SL-P500A CD player. I only use turntable when playing a newly acquired album. I listen to the radio in van. And digital albums with in-ear headphones when out. I rarely play albums when driving, I generally just listen to the radio 2 - but if Jeremy Vine is on, I listen to local radio.
Personally, I like vinyl, and have quite a lot of albums framed and mounted on the wall. I'm very protective about my records lol. I don't like anybody touching them.
All digital here. CDs & audio files ripped from records where CDs aren't available. When my home system's set up it'll be via that but as I'm between homes currently I'm relying on the computer & my sound magic buds (which are surprisingly good). I do listen to a lot of radio & write a lot of stuff down when I hear something I like so I can pull it out for more attention. I do actively go searching for new music almost every day via bandcamp. But the best way to listen to music is live. Nothing will ever beat that.
