In all honesty, I think a lot of the hoohah on the twitters is being blown out of proportion.
You never see that level of fuss being made about farcebook & that place is a real hell hole

So is this something really lucky to happen (for mastodon) where they've made a cheap ripoff of a successful product and then said product implodes and everyone jumps to the knockoff?

Something I just learned about Mastadon last night: using a third-party app makes for a MUCH better experience than using their app. As others have said in many places, Mastadon’s own app is very buggy. In the short time I used it, it was constantly crashing, refusing to upload images or paste links. Switched to a third-party app last night (Tootle) and it’s better by leaps and bounds.
