I can't believe we don't have a Pixies thread. For some reason every year when the clocks change and the sun begins to shine, I go on a huge Pixies trip. I've been playing the albums loads along with the b-sides compilation and a couple of DVDs.
As there are a few songs on each release that don't do anything for me, I decided to make a Pixies playlist. That I only narrowed it down to 53 songs shows how much I like the band.
Their 4 albums can be hard to choose between but I think Trompe Le Monde is my personal favourite as it has the least number of songs I don't care for (only the closer really). I think they pretty much went out perfectly with that album. Doolittle and Surfer Rosa are excellent but for me they both trail off in the second half, though fortunately Doolittle closes with the awesome Gouge Away. Bossanova feels like a bit of a let down after opening with 4 such solid tracks. That's the one I listen to the least. The Come on Pilgrim EP rules too.
They've been one of my fav for years now. Discovered them with the release of Doolittle so this stays my favorite album. I saw them twice in Toulouse 3 years ago and they were real great. Unfortunately, their last song almost sounds like crap... And the Pixies without Kim Deal ?... Ummm...
Any Pixies fans might be interested to learn that the Complete Frank Black & The Catholics box set is available from google play for the (surely incorrect!) price of only £5.49. It is, obviously, brilliant!
