Marmite?

#VomitEmoji. all those mites, Marmite, Vegemite, whatever are just gross.

I’ve secretly always wanted to try it but it seems stupid to buy a whole jar for myself if I hate it. I like the taste of yeast, I think.

There are some iconic national foods I haven’t tried when I could have, like rotten shark in Iceland or natto in Japan.

I think it’s very much a thing you’d need to grow up with to enjoy. Both my wife and I grew up in Australia, she with (let’s call them) UK parents, me with immigrant parents. She had Vegemite as a kid but I never did as it wasn’t something my parents were exposed to. I hate it, she looooovew it.

Vegemite is the Australian Marmite.

Spread very thinly on toast & it's gorgeous. Marmite flavoured crisps/potato chips are a good introduction if you haven't tried it before
