Welcome one & all to the city of hygge, Copenhagen, the current capital of Denmark & former capital of Norway & Sweden until a row blew up between various statesmen about the abundance of blue, white & yellow in the flags.
Someone mentioned mermaid’s yesterday & obviously they’d been reading my thoroughly researched notes. The former Viking fishing village is situated on the edge of Denmark. The Vikings were known to be notoriously grumpy & angry so, to brighten up the harbour, a statue in honour of Ariel from Disney’s The Little Mermaid was commissioned to cheer everyone up. And it worked. Copenhagen is now generally known as the happiest city in the world.
Perhaps the most famous thing from Copenhagen &, indeed, Denmark is the pastry. Or, as the Germans call them, the Copenhagener. Created over 300 years ago after a baker screwed up a recipe when he forgot to put butter in & tried to sneak it back in later in the process. This resulted in a pastry so light it needed to be weighed down with icing & fruit to stop it floating away in the coastal sea breeze. So popular have they become that they have been replicated in over priced coffee shops & used as movie & sitcom props the world over due the fact they are light enough for people to carry on long scene shooting assignments.
Of the many famous folks who hail from the Danish capital, the most notorious has to be the major narcotics distributor and sometimes-fried chicken restaurant magnate Gus Fring who might have smiled more if he’d not relocated from the happiest city in the world to Albuquerque where the pastries are, let’s say, sub-optimal.
With a rich musical history, it’s hard to pick a winner, but you can’t ignore the sheer lyrical genius of the one & only Aqua who don’t spend the whole video trying to murder each other between gigs.
Hitting the Royal Arena this evening are johnz , ninja , violaine & (hopefully) maccatori who will be filled to the brim with Stjerneskud & Hazed & Confused from the wonderfully named Flying Couch brewery. We hope you all have an amazing evening in the company of The Cure )
I mentioned flags earlier &, although Copenhagen has no official flag of its own, the one proposed by a redditor gives us a chance to use different colours. So let’s go with that

As usual. If you stumble across a stream, you should be able to embed it in your post using the </> button on the tool bar. If you can’t then just post the link so those of us who can’t be there can at least share in the experience with those that can
