Tonight will be the fourth time The Cure has shaken the foundations of the Spektrum Arena in Oslo & it still hasn’t fallen down. Which is a testament to the people who built it.
Bloke down the pub really came through again and I am able to confirm that Norway’s capital was originally part of a suburb called Gamlebyen. But, as the locals had huge problems pronouncing that, the city’s elders searched wikipedia & chose to rename the place after a small community in Dodge County. This is a fact often disputed by those who believe the name was inspired by a Californian rock band formed in 2003.
It rose to fame thanks to the sequel movie for The Wave in 2018’s The Quake. A film in which many of the buildings performed their own stunts!
But not even the quake in the film of the same name could bring down the Spektrum Arena which remains protected by it’s ceramic tiles. And state-of-the art force field technology.
I did search for the most famous people in Oslo, but after fifteen seconds it became startlingly obvious that by far the most famous is ginger haired wildling & Jon Snow’s good pal Tormund Giantsbane who not only is an all round good wildling, he’s a pretty good ice wall climber too.
It’s altendalton , michelt , rosered that are currently en route to a place that serves decent Raspeballer and ice cold Ringnes Platinum before heading off to the seemingly indestructible Spektrum Arena for tonight’s show. Let’s hope they all have a superb time
For the set colours….omfg. The flag’s blue with bits of yellow again!. But, after a quick chat with an expert, it seems the current flag contravenes every heraldic principle enforced by the National Archives for about 70 years & the city never bothered to try to get it approved. So I might just go with the blue & white one. Just to shake things up you know…
