The idea was born from the U2 group's "Sunday Bloody Sunday" drumming that anyone can recognize just by playing it on a tip. The Grand Admirer of The Cure and Boris Williams drumming (drummer from the group from 1985 to 1994), I wanted to pay tribute by replaying and re-registering some of his wonderfully compounded rhythms. They are special, very musical and melodic. I proposed to composers and artists that I really like the universe to recompose an instrumental piece or sang on one of the drum riffs to highlight them on other compositions and melodies than the Cure songs. I also wanted to show that a good drum rhythm has a large place in a song and is as identifiable as a harmony. This also made it possible to mix the universe of each composer at an imposed drumming pace; We do not always know the genesis of a piece, it can also leave a drum rhythm.
Here are the technical recommendations proposed to each composer:
Respect the rhythm and tempo. We must recognize the pace but we can cut it at times as needed. Effects and tools can be used as long as the pace is recognized. Finally, a duration can be used.
