I love this collection of singles, except The Lovecats. I really do not like that song.
Is it an album? I don't care, I bought the CD in my youth, so even though the album cover said "THE CURE SINGLES NOV 82 NOV 83" to me, it still was an album. I spun that disc so many times, I never thought to consider whether it was an album proper or a compilation album.
It's a singles collection but not in the same way that Beach is. Beach spans many years, JW spans 12 months' worth of singles. November 1982 to October 1983 (my source is Wikipedia for The Lovecats release date), not really the same thing as Beach now is it?
The songs don't have a similar theme other than they're all "pop" songs extremely different to the albums that sandwich them, but it's not like all the other The Cure albums are concept albums. Look at Wish, that's all over the shop when it comes to styles and tempos and lyrics and lengths and blah blah blah.

To me it's not at all the same as SOAB, which is a greatest hits (well, hits being relative).
