Let's have some fun! Ok so in addition to The Cure You all probably know by now (or maybe not but will now) I am also a massive Led Zeppelin fan. Zep was my first love. Then John Bonham went and died

dammit, and Led Zep "broke up" so in college I started listening to The Cure and voila! Anywho, I love to sing, as most of us probably do, but I also sing the instrumental parts in songs. Do you? If you are like me, probably, right? Because if you don't, I'm not sure we can be friends. :-*

Now I'm not just talking about steve and fiveswinglive 's air orchestra here. I'm talking about actually singing the instrumental parts. Examples of my favorite parts

The Cure

Bass to hot hot hot
Guitar to If only Tonight We Can Sleep
Robert's guitar in The Kiss
Guitar in Just like Heaven

Non Cure
Jimmy Page's classic guitar part at the end of Stairway to Heaven
David Gilmour's classic guitar part at the end of Comfortably Numb
Pete Townsend's guitar part in Won't Get Fooled Again
Joe Walsh and Don Felder's duet guitar at the end of Hotel California

Etc... so what are your The Cure and non The Cure favorite instrumental parts to SING?

I tend to sing/hum/ whistle hooks that really get me.
I listen to so much music that it changes from day to day & I think it becomes like I'm singing a dream & forget or don't even realise I'm doing it.
It'll typically be from when I get up. I'll have it locked in my head & I'll sing it to myself & it'll continue for most of the day.
Never thought of listing them until now though.
I will need to start tomorrow though. That's when the cycle starts

Like steve I also listen to a wide variety of music. I often wake up with a song/beat or a sound that drives me up the wall and not get over it until I can identify it and have a listen. I may be mumbling it or whistling until I identify it.

Once I find it--I reinforced that sound/song by playing it so as to clearly remember what the lyrics, the cords, the notes sound like.

I have a wide range of music in this brain!!

Of course the fall back is The Cure!

For that I pick a few that often infects my brain:

(guitar) If Only tonight we could sleep- (Pipperoo )
(guitar) The Snake pit
(guitar) Fascination Street
(bass) A Forest

NON-

(Piano) Love will tear us apart(Joy Division)
(Bass) She lost Control(Joy Division)

There is so many to list! SO I leave you with a memory- Now time to go and listen to so JD

I'm a sucker for a harmony or backing vocal (nothing is better than the cheese of 80s Desmond Child for this). Can't sing the backing vocals for Alice Cooper's Poison without a massive grin

Steering wheel in the car makes a great percussion kit for anything - something long with different sections is ideal, Three Days by Jane's is perfect!

Lot's of proggy 70s synth stuff is good for a humalong too

Oh, and Sound & Vision.
