Trust, High, Apart, take your pick. All dull as dishwater, I agree. Open and End too. I'm feeling kind of feisty today.
Not at all. What we think of as "The Cure" sound is a group effort, of Robert Smith doing demos and then in the studio the band's (and producer's input if any) shapes the final album.
Starting with Wish and getting steadily worse, we only hear the sound of one hand clapping as RS vision is the only one presented.
This is why Star Wars is better than The Phantom Menace. Star Wars was edited by other people. The Phantom Menace is George Lucas' vision with a bunch of yes men in the studio. The difference shows.
I don't care what Robert Smith's personal relationship is with ex-Cures. Every single album that was made after Disintegration would have been improved with the input of ex-band members.
I could be wrong, maybe they would have turned out a bunch of nineties albums that sounded like Pearl Jam or Alice in Chains, which we don't want. But I have to think an album like Wild Mood Swings or 4:13 Dream would have had a few more hits with other input.
Now I say that knowing full well that RS never wanted The Cure to be a top ten band. He got his wish, eventually.
Except The Top and HOTD are pretty much solo compositions. All 3 of KMKMKM, Disintegration and Wish started with demo submissions from the whole* band

The whole band did the demos. Other members have even written tracks. Trust is From Perry. Foolish arrangement is by Simon ans so on.
I thought Wish was more of a group effort which is why he wasn't over the moon about it in the end but I could be wrong. Whatever the case is, even without the b-sides and what not it is still miles ahead of the last couple of albums. I haven't seen much of a reason to replay them since they had their day in the sun sadly. Dull as dishwater and kills my ears too.

Be interested to know where you got that info. I do know Apart was Boris' song. It's listed as such on the studio rehearsals. Porl has a couple listed as his, but they aren't on Wish. This Foolish Arrangement had the working title of HK. No mention of Simon though.
I do believe the whole band played a big writing role (musically) & would really like more detail on who wrote what for Wish

Trust is definitely Perry's. I remember A foolish Arrangement being Simon's too. What I'm sure of is that High and Off to Sleep are Simon's too. High was called Anniversary at it's demo stage (from the GH microsite).
IMDB and wikipedia claim concerning Perry: He has been credited for writing the music for the songs "Trust" from Wish, "This Is a Lie" from Wild Mood Swings, and "Anniversary" from The Cure.
Though I wouldn´t call these sites 100 % reliable sources.

With the bassline of AFA, I could definitely see that as being true. It's fun and bouncy.
Uyea Sound was Porl I'm pretty sure, wasn't it called "Old Scotland" or something at first? I remember hearing the Unstuck demo but don't know who came up with it, good tune. A Foolish Arrangement was completed while on tour in Australia, by R + S. Always liked it too.

Yes, you're completely correct about Uyea Sound according to this! That Cure News number also confirms Cloudberry as Robert's, Off to Sleep as Simon's and The Three Sisters and Perry's.
Couldn't find any source for AFA (just did a very quick not in depth search), but what you're saying certainly rings a bell with me.
Other than that, Cure News 11 confirms A Letter to Elise and The Big Hand to be Robert's and Wendy Time and Away->Cut to be Simon's. I can also remember listening to an interview with Roger where he confirms that Trust came from Perry, but I can't find it at the moment. But I'm fairly certain it must have been from sometime since he last re-joined.
