You just need to hang in there. Not long now until this thing starts to recede. Provided everyone sticks to the rules & is sensible
The last bit you wrote is likely one of the main reasons why we’re currently the Covid hotspot in North America. People have been skirting the rules and holding gathering/parties despite the restrictions. In a province of just over a million people, it’s disheartening to see the number of daily infections increase to, what is it, 600 I think ? But despite this, people continue to do as they please.
Sigh. I mean I guess it is what it is, but hopefully the sentiment will change and citizens will start following the rules, only time will tell.
I thought of you yesterday when I saw the headline about your area. I’m so sorry. Try to remember that there *is* a light at the end of the tunnel, even if you can’t see it yet.
People are indeed morons. When I recently went to Urgent Care a woman walked in sobbing. She told the nurse she’d been diagnosed with COVID and her lungs felt awful. She then proceeded to PULL DOWN HER MASK!!!! The nurse was like WTF?
Despite people like that you yourself will be OK. Hang in.
I'm of the opinion that some people truly don't know what's the right thing to do. Media, both actual & social, spouts so many thousands of versions of the situation & what's true & not true that some folks really are confused. Sadly, there are those a$$hats who are just being plain stupid and those ones are usually the most vocal in their misguided beliefs & suck in genuinely sincere people as a result. A medical professional reacting like that will tell you volumes about what is & what isn't the right thing to do. Not *randomname395812560212957843* on farcebook or tok tik or whatever the fcuk is de rigour these days for whipping up stupidity.
Thank you for your continued support @notkristie. That scene you described is likely an all-too common occurrence at hospitals throughout the world. Either people are oblivious of their actions or they just don’t care, I personally suspect it’s the former of the two.
It’s just so unreal that’s we’re entering another summer of the same shiat...
On. bright note, it’s sorta cool that my little town has made the news in the US; you know you’ve made it into the big leagues when the US pays attention to you! ! 😝 (I’m kidding of course, I just need to make light of this crappy situation)

So, Danielle and steve , how did your after effects of vaccination end up playing out?
For me it just felt like I'd been punched in the arm just a little bit harder than for the first one. No biggie really. I've come out of mosh pits with more aches to be honest
So let me wrap my head around this & the sheer irony of it all. Crowds of people go out to protest about lockdown* restrictions. In a shopping centre that is totally open. Forcing it to close again. Is it just me or does this seem really really really stupid?
*they keep using that word. I do not think it means what they think it means

Admission: I had to look up the term ‘mosh pit’, I’ve seen it at shows, but didn’t know what it was called. It looks painful - ouch !
I walked by the main cemetery entrance yesterday and saw there was a huge installation of art and remembrances from students at some of the schools in the area. I did find some dark humor in some of the artwork.
Anyone else see the irony of the black and orange-lettered sign in the middle of this one being posted outside a huge cemetery?
This illustration of the virus also made me laugh:
I was very wrong about the restrictions being eased, we’re still in full blown lockdown mode and have been for some time. I guess it is what it is ? Gotta ride this crap out for a bit longer.
The other day, I went into the bank and two shops and did not have to wear a mask at all. Depending on the neighborhood, though, people are either comfortable with going maskless inside, or not. The neighborhoods in question are not far away from each other at all, which I can't quite wrap my head around.
In some of the places, I was the only person who chose not to wear a mask. I felt like people might pummel me and call me irresponsible. But at nearly 5 months out from vaccination, I feel completely OK with it.
To add to the weirdness, all 3 libraries near us are still totally closed. I can't return the book I have that is overdue without a pretty major trip. I don't get it.
