That article was somewhat of an interesting read. Since I’ve started teleworking in April 2020 I’ve completed at least three questionnaires regarding my work situation throughout the pandemic . The results of the survey aren’t too surprising; the vast majority of public servants from my department (over 80%) would prefer to continue working from home on a full time basis for an indefinite period of time regardless of the pandemic.
A little off topic but I'm sick of the deluge of surveys from big corporations & other entities. My question is what's in it for me, in a concrete way. I know where I used to work they used to make a big deal about the yearly "anonymous" employee survey. Thing is, if you looked into it, it wasn't really anonymous. Upper management would laugh at them & then find new creative ways to screw us over. & God help you if you put the truth in your answers. There may be exceptions but I've stopped responding to survey requests.
Defintely an interesting read; I had no idea this was happening.
Not too dissimilar to what's happened in the UK. The nurses there were given a 1 (one) % pay rise after spending over a year being put in danger all day, every day with expired PPE (if they had any PPE at all). But hey. At least everyone clapped for them at 8pm every Thursday.
You can also get a free Krispy Kreme donut when you show your vaccine card.
Are you serious ? Finally, a real incentive for getting vaccinated!
I know, right?! I think it’s just until the end of this month but it’s as many times as you want. I think the nearest KK to us is inside Penn Station. No way I’m going inside that pit if I don’t have a train to catch.

I dunno, sounds like it may be worth the effort and risk (e.g. possible exposure to Covid) to get to sink your teeth into multiple KKs for FREE...😉
I wonder if the organizers of the vaccine program will get savvy and start distributing stickers and/Or buttons that have some sort of ‘I got vaccinated’ slogan printed on them, so like similar to what they do on Election Day. Then those who are vaccinated will post cool selfies of themselves wearing said button on their social media accounts, which will lead to FOMO amongst their followers. Then those followers will sign up for the vaccine, and so then the same process/cycle with be repeated again and again until everyone is vaccinated. Yep I figured it all out! but where are my kudos ? 🙃

I had my first in person visit with my rheumatologist in a year yesterday. We have been doing telehealth every 4 weeks though. He's in his late 60s (pretty hip, quizzed me about Metallica tickets last time they came to town) & has been justifiably cautious. Now that I'm vaccinated, we'll be doing everything in person as things aren't going so great. Similar situation with my primary doc, seeing him today. Fingers crossed that some issues aren't what I think they could be. Anyway, doc 1 told me that he & the other doctors in the clinic are going to officially require vaccination for office visits. I'm good as he has been in the loop with me the whole time but evidently there are some other patients that are anti-vax. They may be looking for another provider. My doc is very highly regarded in his field & it was tough getting in to see him initially. It's a good thing I did get in as after going through 4 other docs in that field he was the one that figured out what was wrong. The others knew something was wrong but couldn't pinpoint it. Turnded out my particular condition is very rare & hard to diagnose. I digress though. I think he's right to take precautions given his age. If people don't want to get the vaccine, there are plenty of other options out there.
chuckrh - I don’t blame your doctor for requiring his patients to be vaccinated against COVID. Not the same thing, but my massage therapist is looking at doing the same thing. Better to take these types of precautions than not I think.
Oh wow - all the primary and secondary schools in the province have shut their doors, even the playgrounds are closed! Yikes! Will the kids get to enjoy a bit of summer this year or will similar to last year where everything was closed? Really glad I rented a cottage for a week so that my niece can have a little fun at the lake.

I guess the takeaway here is to watch for signs of trouble after receiving an AstraZeneca-Oxford COVID-19 vaccine or really any vaccine.
While that's an awful thing, it's actually incredibly rare to get clots. There have been one or two cases of rare clots "linked" to other vaccines (but AZ, the only not for profit & cheapest one seems to get all the press, as investment vultures want their shares in other vaccines to make them $$) too but, as I recall, the clots related to the vaccines have all been on the brain. Various health authorities have paused the AZ roll-out to do more lab testing, but have put it back in the roll-out based on the minuscule risk. But you're completely right. Any unexpected symptoms should immediately be referred to your doctor.
