Seems that here the government is insisting on vaccine "passports" to be able to go into bars & restaurants. I knew they were issuing a vaccine card, as they took my address etc at my first jab. But didn't realise they were going to be used to gain entry to hospitality venues. Hoping that's not going to be a forever thing
There's been talk about doing that here, as well. While I am definitely pro-vaccination I'm also really opposed to wearing my private medical history on my proverbial sleeve. It would probably take another tour by TC for me to consider complying.
Oh wow there’s been a major development! The provincial government announced that by mid-May everyone aged 12 and up are eligible to receive the vaccine! I’m trying to temper by excitement, but I cannot contain myself so the wheels in my head are turning at breakneck speed generating all kinds of ideas and possibilities.
That's fantastic news, Danielle! Let yourself be giddy! Why not?
Just get ready to spend a lot of time online searching, maybe? I hope you end up getting an appointment quickly. I know you'll give it your best shot!
Confession - I’ve been looking into ‘things’ for a few weeks now. I’m hoping my plans will come to fruition this autumn, or more likely in spring of 2022. I’m trying not to be too eager about this though as I really don’t want to set myself up for disappointment.
Looks like would be more difficult to forge than what we have in the states. Something to be said for that. It's already stating to become an issue here. Trust in the rest of the population is seldom a good bet.

It has to be presented with a photo ID & the QR code (I smudged the photo just in case) links directly to the government health site to see the validity. It is proving a bit controversial in that those without one are now denied legal entrance to bars, restaurants & other hospitality type venues. But I suppose the authorities want to encourage people to get vaccinated & given how bad the situation was here, it's understandable.

You have to show photo ID here to get into a bar anyway, even if you're older than dirt like me. I would definitiely be in favor of having a similar system here. Herd immunity isn't going to happen unless about 80% of the population gets vaccinated. Mandatory COVID tests or legit proof of vaccination doesn't seem like a bad idea either. Right now there are restrictions on travel from India but if you travel to another country then travel to the US you can get in. Doesn't make much sense. Going to be an interesting summer in regards to COVID. If we aren't vigilant, the whole thing could ramp up again next fall/winter.
I should take my own advice in another thread & hook up the coffee IV. Above I meant to say mandatory COVID tests or proof vaccination should be required to get into the country. D'oh!
Another day, another lockdown. New restrictions come into effect on Sunday at 12:00.
FFS. I'm so sorry.
Honestly, my favourite activities involve puttering around my home and doing whatever. , but even for someone like me, (an introvert) the constant restrictions and lockdowns have been so difficult to deal with

I get it. I like puttering around home most, too, but I need to be able to get out so as to not get really depressed and get into Groundhog Day ode. I think it's human nature to feel upset at the prospect of not having freedom of movement.

It just never seems to end...
sounds like the US is opening up though, which is a great thing if it’s done safely . Hopefully the rest of us will soon follow, but for we’ll just have to have temper our expectations.
That article was somewhat of an interesting read. Since I’ve started teleworking in April 2020 I’ve completed at least three questionnaires regarding my work situation throughout the pandemic . The results of the survey aren’t too surprising; the vast majority of public servants from my department (over 80%) would prefer to continue working from home on a full time basis for an indefinite period of time regardless of the pandemic.

I cannot say I am a proponent of us normalizing isolation. I spent a long enough time working in the corporate banking world to know big employers have never cared about workers' preferences before. It's all a matter of saving them money.
Definitely I can get behind FLEXIBLE workplaces, but I can't get behind companies moving towards people working primarily without being in the presence of their coworkers. I believe there is value in people being together physically. And while of course there are always outliers in nature, I think even most introverts gain something from being around others and their presence also adds value to human interactions and social groups.
FWIW, Mr. K's office will have been closed for 18 months when it reopens in September (if all goes as planned). He's definitely not hyper-social and most of his team even works on a different coast, but he'd still rather be in the office doing his job. And that's even with a school-aged child at home, which the article referenced as a predictor for which workers favor working at home.
