We’re on week twelve of a code red lockdown. I’m getting antsy.
I think increasingly more & more people are getting fed up. That's why all the 5G anti-vax wing nuts are being heard & believed more & more. Hang in there & maybe take the time to learn or try something new to take your mind elsewhere
Mildly freaking out. When I got my first vaccine dose Monday we were all told that the staff could not schedule our second dose at the time because of web site glitches. They just said, "Keep trying to web site to schedule your follow up dose."
Well, it turns out providers are *required* to schedule 2nd doses on site at the first visit. There is no protocol if this doesn't take place and there is no way to do so on the web site staff directed us to. I can't find answers anywhere. It seems to be one of those cases where because something is planned for, when they plan doesn't work out there is no workaround.
I hear now that the wait for vaccine appointments if months long, whereas last Friday I was able to get my pick of appointment easily. I am worried I'll miss my second dose...
Yes, I’m about to get on the subway to travel an hour there and hope they can help me.
Fingers crossed here
I think providers are absolutely required to give one a card with the first dose that specifies when it was given. And one of those should really be helpful in scheduling the 2nd appt. even if it wasn't on the spot. I got my first shot Monday as well.
Thanks for being so supportive, guys. I was flipping out because there were no appointments on the online booking system through June 1st when their calendar ended and I envisioned thousands and thousands of people walking around half-inoculated.
Going to the vaccination site was pointless. Nobody there had any answers but they insisted, despite language on the ny.gov web site below that I showed them, that second doses were never to be scheduled on site. It basically felt like gaslighting, but I think it's more just that this is all so poorly coordinated nobody is clear on anything. There were tons of poor, confused senior citizens at the site who couldn't schedule, either. Several other people also came up to ask about dose #2 scheduling while I was there, so I didn't feel like such a complete spaz.
The mayor is saying we'll run out of vaccine next week, but I don't know who to believe at this point. I certainly wouldn't be surprised. In any event, I made another attempt to schedule online much later and was finally able to get an appointment for dose #2.

Excellent! Hope you felt fine after it. #2 is the one that may knock us out, I hear. Good luck!
@notkristie sounds like it was all put together in a bit of a rush &, as is usually the case, the website may also have got rammed with traffic suddenly.

Good news. I hear the 5G chip can be quite itchy. So be aware of that. On the plus side, you can become your own wifi hotspot

Good luck to you too! I had sore shoulder for a day much like I did after the flu shot. Will see what the 2nd one brings - it may be different in my case since the whole thing is more of a boost 10 months post the actual Covid. Sadly - it terminated my 2020 career as a convalescent plasma donor lol

This made me laugh. I sold my share of plasma (always across the street from a bus depot, no matter which city) in my 20's. You should be building up good immunity, then, but I'm sorry you had it before. And I hope you find a new gig. Maybe Tupperware? You couldn't have the requisite parties ATM, though.
