Six days out from my test and still no results. The sign in the exam room when I took my test had "2-3 for results" hand written on it. I called today and a very helpful woman told me it's "a minimum of 7 days" for results now.
I'm very much thinking of all the people who can't return to work without test results, as I heard several other people say when I was waiting in line. We are fortunate not to be living paycheck-to-paycheck, but for large swaths of my life, I was. There is so much insecurity here right now in regards to food, housing, work. People are burning out.

Just got off the skype with my brother & he's saying similar things about the UK. Not so much about insecurity though, but uncertainty. The authorities there have been very sly in "allowing" place to re-open but they have never changed the coronavirus bill legislation that was put into law back at the end of March. As a result nobody knows what the fcuk they need to do & if there is a sudden spike, guess who is going to get the blame? Joe Public. That's who. In the meantime the UK government hides crucial infection numbers from local authorities & has a "strategy" of whack a mole where they lockdown regions when they see a spike after easing country-wide restrictions. Morons. .

There are so many issues tangled up in this pandemic. What control can / should the government take to protect people and the health care system for being overburdened by infections. But complete absence of responsibility or absence of meaningful guidance is not an option. That's what we're getting, though. Now more than ever, it feels like it's dog eat dog, when it should be a coordinated effort. It's not like this is totally uncharted or unexpected territory, yet we've been caught with our proverbial pants down. The level of incompetence is truly staggering.

My wife had bronchitis and her doc had her get a COVID-19 test. Drove up to the testing location, poked her brain through each nostril, drove home. Had results (negative) within 36 hours.
I think testing is the wild west at this point here in the U.S. So many different companies. No standardization. What a mess.
@notkristie You have hit the nail on the head there. Pretty much everyone has no clue what they should & shouldn't do. People are desperate to restart their businesses with no coherent guidance from "experts". It's pretty much all guess work for many & that's not good enough. People are being left to take matters into their own hands &, as a result, run the risk of falling foul of insurance policies that could very easily tell them to p!ss off if it all goes south. Here, all the guidance was from our chief medical officer (& now one of my heroes) Cecilia Müller. It was clear & she even covered real life situations relative to the season. Elsewhere, I see what little advice given is politically driven and not medically (not going near scientifically). We can only do what we can do. I am genuinely saddened by what I am seeing outside of my own region & if I can offer any kind of help, no matter how small, I will. You girls & guys are my friends & I'd sleep better if my friends sleep better.
This had actually occurred to me in the past few weeks. Face condoms, or, "It's like breathing with a raincoat on." Hey, it's better than suffocating, right?

The one I most often wear sort of looks like a condom; you can see the shape of my lips through the mask. It’s actually quite comfortable, but I definitely wouldn’t want to run while wearing it.
The marginal daily cases are declining in Canada; however, there’s a real sense of fear lately that the COVID-infection rate will spike at some point. Is this the calm before another storm? I guess only time will tell.

Hey - I practice safe(r) breathing!
- you had me rolling
Gotta inject a bit of humour here and there, particularly during insanely trying times like these.
