social distancing appears to be a thing of the past here, yet both my employers are hinting that all staff will continue teleworking into the new year.
The advice that keeps spewing out (there) has got so muddled that nobody seems to be sure what's right & what's not. I was surprised the other day going into a supermarket where they had taken down the perspex dividers at the cashier & removed the spacing markers from the floor. Still told to wear masks & keep the distance according the sign on the door though.
I’m very surprised to hear they removed those dividers - I was thinking those things would become permanent features in (most) grocery stores!
It feels so totally effed up here. I had to take the subway today to clear out my old office space. 4 cops outside my subway station handing out masks and hand sanitizer. In my subway car and in stations, about 20% of the people were not wearing masks. I asked two men who came into my car and sat down right near me without a mask to move. The second encounter got dangerous. The official stance from the MTA is that the mask rule will be enforced by riders who "shame" those who are non compliant. Yeah, right. No enforcement of masks wearing in sight at all once down inside the system. People clearly don't give a carp. I don't want to spend another three plus months inside and out of work, thanks.
Here's the fantastic hand sanitizer we've been supplied with inside the stations. An empty box...
I'm a non-car owner for 17 years. I never take cars or cabs; I rely on the subway if I want to go anywhere outside walking distance from my home. Wish it were safe to ride, but it's not.

It’s disappointing but not surprising that some people won’t follow the recommended health-safety protocols. They may feel it’ll never happen To them, and Likely won’t change their tune until they or someone close to them contracts the virus.

Yeah, I just don't get it. At the beginning of the pandemic, I was in the "why wear a mask?" camp, before it became a WHO recommendation. So I know perspectives can change. It just makes me angry that people rely on public transit in this city and there is no type of enforcement at all.
On a positive note, though, the three of us took the subway to Central Park yesterday because we just really wanted to get out of our neighborhood and go to the park. Oddly, mask compliance on the subway AND in the park was fantastic yesterday. I would say about 90% of people were wearing masks, which really shocked me.
I've only just realised but on the Deluxe Edition of Head on the Door, Robert whispers 'And now wash your hands' at the beginning of The Exploding Boy
This is amazing! I don't have the deluxe version but I think this is justification enough for me to get it. Not that I need much of an excuse... Thanks, sandgrounder.

Glad to hear that the vast majority of the people on the subway were wearing masks - hopefully it’ll continue
I’ve finally managed to book a haircut, which I desperately need! Apparently, I need to arrive at the salon 15 minutes early to complete a waiver and answer a health-related questionnaire. Oh and of course I’m required to wear a mask for the duration of the appointment. I wonder if the stylist will be wearing some sort of face shield ?

My hairdresser's been open a month now & she's wearing just a face mask. I haven't been yet. Still doing my own
In other news, The Hungarian parliament (which was never shut down by the way) voted to end the state of emergency here by 192 votes to 0 today. That's the same state of emergency that the western media portrayed as the implementation of a police state. Restrictions were all but fully ended 2 weeks ago & they waited to see if there was a spike in cases after the 14 day period where symptoms start showing. There wasn't & so the vote went ahead today. In other other news. After 24 days with NO infections detected in New Zealand, 2 positive detections were found in the last 24 hours. In UK nationals that had travelled there

You’re a brave person for cutting your own hair ! In the past, I’d trim my own fringe, but nothing more! How on earth do you manage to do the back of your head? I’m mostly looking forward to the head massage she gives me - it’s pure bliss.
thank you for sharing the covid-related news - I had not heard of any new infections in New Zealand!

Mirrors. Takes a bit of getting used to, but it's working out okay.

That’s still pretty impressive. I can just picture the hack job I’d do if I were to cut time - Chances are I’d be sporting a cap for a good year afterwards!
