@notkristie , it's hard for me to judge the film as a film because of the fact that I was at this gig and I might not be objective but it was excellent, forking excellent
First though one not very positive thing. There were more than 100 people in the screening room and I think I was the only one who wanted to sing, move, clap my hands etc. Everyone was silent and motionless as if they were watching a drama. Only some laughed a few times and only one person except me tried clapping at the end. So for the whole film I was moving along the beat on my seat and airsinging loud and clearly but inaudibly for others.
The film was absolutely great as it let me go back to Hyde Park. These chills at beginning when I saw the crowd... I didn't realise there were that many people behind me. So Plainsong made a little tear appeared in the corner of my eye. And then it was almost impossible to wipe away the smile from my face.
The first absolute blast it was If Only Tonight We Could Sleep. Beautifully sung and filmed with gentle effects making the song even more beautiful. Then Play For Today and A Forest which energy coming from the screen was overwhelming. Finally Shake Dog Shake, another blast. Simply hypnotising thanks to the shaking effects and visuals.
Never Enough and From The Edge Of The Deep Green Sea looked like a little tribute to Reeves And the end of the latter and following Disintegration made me not resistant for tears. Incredible moments filmed by someone who knows what it's all about.
Close To Me with Robert's close-ups on every screen at the stage looked even better than in reality. Perfect and incredibly energetic Why Can't I Be You made me think: Jeez, if only he had a wireless mic then... The old school ending looked and sounded just fabulous. Just like a dream...
What I liked a lot was the image becoming more and more blurry at the very end while Robert was going out of the stage. It was like tears of affection after such a perfect anniversary fest.
The filming is great, focused only on the band showed very often from the middle of the stage which make a great impression of being there and not in the crowd. Little things, as smiles and jokes, faces or our favourite cuddling of Robert and Simon make it so real and natural. The effect have been used in very good proportion and only there where they were needed and meant something. For me also the sound is perfectly mixed.
It is a must to watch it, it is must to have it after its release. Bravo Tim Pope. A very big bravo.
But I don't see And I don't feel But tightly hold up silently My hands before my fading eyes And in my eyes Your smile
I mistook stars reflected in a pond at night for those in the sky.

lioness great summary. I wonder if I can stir the Mexican crowd into singing along when I finally get to see the film. It is in a movie theather after all and not everyone likes when people talk. Should I take a sign? Should I sit infront just as if I was trying to be at the front?

Haha! I think the Mexican crowd will be singing like mad. You're lucky that you're going to watch it there, you will really feel like if you were at the gig.

That seems like an ABSOLUTELY perfect place to see it. Was it great?
Life is so small (duration time) even if sometimes things look like glued but why to chose one of each?
Do both man, first get your ticket to support your local cinema theatre (and see it like a way to thank Tim Pope) enjoy the Hyde Park Show on the Big Screen
and then (if and when it will be released as a physical copy) enjoy it at home
Simple.
I'm a cheapskate man!! :-D
But I might. It'll probably be a last minute decision.
So.... I didn’t go see it. 😢😜Looking forward to the home release.

thank you, it was wonderful! the film alone of course but even more in that atmosphere, felt like back in the 80s, in some smalltown cinema with owners who had a great taste in their choice of films. i asked how come they are showing it, quite unusual in this area, and they said some customers had asked about it, and it would be something nice for the holiday time.
also a lovely cafe/bar, friendly staff and a good selection on wines :- ) in short, perfect!

Finally got a change to see it on the big screen!!
I had chills during the entire film and even got the Mexican Crowd to sing along a few songs with me. I also Had them raising their hands during Push ninja (swatting away at them seagulls)
There were a few who applauded at the end of each song! the occasional approval from complete strangers made me smile..
I counted the 21's outload and some even joined me.
It really got dusty during Disintegration! Damn ushers never clear all the dust out.
Love the ENCORE!!
