Signed up for updates Not holding too much faith in it making its way to Hungarian cinemas though
Was there a country choice for Hungary in the info signup?
The country list I saw was pretty extensive. I had to use 2 devices and 2 emails to sign up ticking off 2 countries as I am unsure where I will be on 11 July so I wanted info for both possible places.
Crossing my fingers for you that there will be a Hungarian cinema showing it.

This is awesome that it's being show in cinemas, but out of those two 2018 shows, why did they pick this show over the Meltdown show?
The Meltdown show was packed with rarer tracks rather than the Hyde Park set which was much more like all the other sets they've been playing for the last few years. The Meltdown set was a career spanning "retrospective" that shied away from the blast of singles that was the Hyde Park show, and from memory this is only the second or third time the band has done one of these "trip thru time" shows.. I dunno, it seems to me that the Hyde Park show is a bit more ho-hum than the wowowowoww Meltdown set...
Anyway, I hope it shows here, I'll go.
For reference to agree with, or argue against my comments, see the set lists below:

If you have a lead on Brisbane 21 August 1992 - CT version, for the love of Bob, let me know. Please!
Hyde Park was billed as the anniversary show whereas Meltdown wasn't even billed as The Cure. Moreover, we weren't aware of the chance of a Meltdown film until quite recently. I'd say the HP show would be (of the 2) more cinematic due to its sheer scale. Meltdown was minuscule in comparison. Maybe, if the HP shows gets an eventual home release, Meltdown might be bundled with it.

maybe we will see some of our friends on the big screen. i'm generally not in favour of crowd shots in concert films but am willing to make an exception for this one. the stones "sweet summer sun" film had so many crowd shots (real dumb ones at that) the band was barely in it. given the performance at that show, maybe not a totally bad thing, haha.

I don't think HP really is an "anniversary" show though. In the sense of the show celebrating the history of the band.. I mean, yes they play songs going all the way back, but they focused on a tonne of singles (18 of of the 29 songs), just like every other show in the last six years - so how is this show special? Yes, one could argue that the singles are a way of showcasing the band, year on year, like marking each anniversary, but for me, that's a fail. There's nothing special about that show.
The Meltdown set was much more suited to the Anniversary-ness, and an anniversary film. But I guess I'm not Tim Pope.....

I see your point but Meltdown was certainly more esoteric than HP. You couldn't play that set to a 65,000 audience without a good chunk of them grumbling that FIIL or the sock song wasn't played. Rather than a retrospective, it was more a celebration. & I think that carries for the cinema release too. I think a lot more people will be heading to their local flea pit to see this show, as it'll please many of the casual fans as well as (most of) the die hards. Not sure Meltdown would have had the same puling power in that respect as that one felt a lot more "personal".
