I very much doubt the album has finished being recorded yet, it'll be the usual "just a few more lyrics/vocals to do" that he's been working on the last 4+ years.
Whether he has the confidence to ever release a new cure album again remains to be seen. Mixed reactions to the last 2 albums hit hard.
Don't worry. He might still remix the next Lana Del Rey single or something...
So releasing the lost world album after the lost world tours have finished is ok?
Personally I think it's beyond embarrassing now and so unprofessional, the whole tours and t shirts, bucket hats, hooded tops, g strings merchandise are based on "songs of a lost world" which doesn't even exist.
You can tell they have no manager or record label.

4:13 Dream wasn't released until after the 4Tour was it? In fact, the entire album was played in Rome almost 3 weeks before it was. They were playing songs from Faith 6 months before that came out. Pronography tracks 5 months ahead of the album. Songs from Seventeen Seconds 5 months before release. TIB songs well before that was unleashed. Then there were 8 shows where they effectively played the most of the The Top before it was released in 84 (even a b side). THOTD was released August 85 & they played 80% of it before then. Want, Trust, Jupiter Crash, & Mint Car got a debut an incredible 11 months before WMS started upsetting people. 3 tracks, including the title track, from Bloodflowers were played in October 1999. A full 3 month in advance of that album. They played so much of the self titled before it was released that they had to change the set because people didn't know what any of the songs were.
You used to constantly complain that they'd play the same, regurgitated sets night after night. Now they throw in half a dozen completely new (& rather brilliant) songs (~20% of the set) plus some long since forgotten deep cuts & you're still unhappy? What is it going to take to please you?
Yes they've often played songs live before they're released like 100 years and figurehead during the Faith tour.
But there is a big difference to that and what they're doing now. It was still the Faith tour playing the released Faith album songs and a couple of new songs from the forthcoming next album Pornography.
This is called the Songs of a Lost World tour for a Songs of a Lost World album which doesn't even exist (currently).
Trust had already been released and played live 4 years before WMS.

So it's semantics that are bothering you? I don't get it. You seem perpetually angry when there's no real earth shattering reason to be. You only ever seem to have a negative perspective. The band are on fire. The shows are off the charts good. There is new material. A N.A. tour with who knows what further surprises in store. I too would have preferred to have seen the album hit the shelves by now. As would countless others. Which is why I get increasingly cross at the rip off store day announcements every year. But it hasn't. Deal with it & be happy that what they are taking on the road is a much changed set compared to the past few years & that, at least, they are taking it on the road & making a hell of a lot of people happy in doing so. Maybe you can take positives from that, maybe not. But I really hope you can because I don't believe there's a heck of a lot to complain about really.
