the back catalog is the cures biggest strength, no matter what you people say..
Given that everything they have ever played to date would technically qualify as "back catalogue", this is 100% fact. However, with so much talk and anticipation around the new album(s), there is naturally going to be high expectations of hearing the new material. I wouldn't put it past them to do what they did with 4:13 & play a show to showcase the album in full & then just cherry pick songs for the rest of the tour.
Isn't the tour supposed to be starting in October? They've had 14 years to release a new album but they're going to wait till the very last minute before first gig to drop it.
This has all the hallmarks of another '4got album' tour.
hahahaha was just looking at something related to the Meltdown 2018 show and came across this quote from RSX:
“It’s the 40th anniversary of the first album in 2019. I thought, if I don’t have something out new that year, that’s it for me. I don’t think the Cure will ever release another album.”

So, it seems we'll be seeing them live before any new releases. I have to admit I'm very disappointed. Of course there's a hope of them releasing a kickass comeback album but I guess it's a long shot. What do you think? Any bands did a comeback after a decade? Rolling stones? Zz top? Whatever...
