I saw this yesterday. Cautiously optimistic, but can't quite let myself go there.
…I will not allow myself to become overexcited until there’s an official announcement….I will not allow myself to become overexcited until there’s an official announcement!
😁
figie - my printer is warming up, hopefully you’ll be seeing some Monopoly money in your mailbox soon !
The Cure in general or the Self-titled album of theirs?
The band. I haven’t heard them since before my ex wife left me in summer 2020.
Ugh I’m sorry that you had this Shirtty experience, but trust me when I say that it does get better and eventually, the associations do start to fade away.

I’m not so optimistic. We live in a broken world with deadly viruses, I’m over 50, an extreme introvert, and most people are superficial and stupid. I just don’t want to start drinking again or I’ll probably end up destroying what I have left of my life.
Anyway, back on topic. I predict the new albums will have a sound that is loud yet muddy, you won’t be able to pick out the individual instruments at all, Robert will scream most of the lyrics, and his voice will be louder than the music.
The opener will start out with him screaming Owwww and end with him whispering Yeahhhh. Lots of stuff about how lost he is and how he’s done with everything. And the sad songs will have a lyrical structure like “He said the day was bright and short. She said the night was dark and long.”
I predict it will be announced that the new (dark) Album will be released at the end of Novemer 2021 and that a concert tour starts within the first month of 2022.
I got a feeling this album will sound a bit more eighties than the previous ones, with partly featuring songs with prominent keyboard soundcapes like on "Disintegration". I also expect more filigreed guitar-play swirling within the songs. I don´t expect it to sound muddy this time. As far as I know the last two albums had been recorded live (the whole band playing together in the studio and not every single instrument recorded separately) and Robert wanted to sound the music more "raw". I do not see this for this album. Though Robert said in the last interview he has not decided who is going to mix the album (but he produced the songs alone?).

Oh my, I hope you’re right ! But I do hope hope the new album in released a bit sooner than November.
